God... He was such a great guy. I had the pleasure of chatting with him a few times when I worked at Second City (a long while ago!). He was a very nice, cool, sweet, mellow guy, and so incredibly talented.
Gone FAR too soon, and he will be missed by many.

So sad!
I remember him first from "Joe". Can't say I was a fan back then (you'd have to see that movie, it also marks Susan Sarandon's film debut), but he really won me over in Young Frankenstein.
I just found out today about his relationship with John Lennon.
Isn't it strange how much we find out about people in their obits?

I didn't see this thread before I posted in the other one so I'll post what I said again here:
I just heard about this. That's so sad! I always enjoyed his character on Everybody Loves Raymond.
RIP Peter!

Read today he might have played Popeye Doyle in The French Connection but his agent convinced him to turn it down
This is worse than Bela Lugosi turning down Frankenstein as there was no dialog

Raymond is one of my all-time favorites; one of those shows u can always turn to and never tire of it. It is an honest comedy; no obvious attempts to grab ratings and thus ultimately fail. Just pure and honest hilarious comedy.
I will always terribly miss Peter Boyle ... I truly do think he is an underestimated actor.
