Check it again - it's there - and only four months after going public with his lung cancer diagnosis - very sad.

A great newscaster. And a great man.
Truly sad.
ABC is airing a tribute to him right now.

I can't say anything to add. The whole situation was so sad, I remember being so shocked to hear he was sick.
It seems sad, quite a loss.
Keith Olberman wrote a tribute in his blog on Msnbc.com back when Jennings announced his sickness it is worth a look, I'm sure there will be many now, but that one moved me then.
peace be with Mr. Jenning's family and friends.

I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.

A great American... and he wasn't even from America.
Any memory I have of every major world event in thelast ten years is punctuated by Mr. Jennings. He was my favorite newscaster and was a part of my household every evening during dinner. A wonderful man and journalist. I for one will miss him.

Those of you who know me, know I had the great pleasure of knowing this man. Peter is the reason I decided to go into the television news business myself. I have never met someone so interested in the world, and life in general, as Peter was. Tonight the world lost a great man, and in my opinion, the best reporter and anchor ever.
The world of television news is a business, but Peter saw it much more than that. He cared about you, the viewer. He wanted you, more than anything, to understand the world you live in. When the world didn't make sense, he did.
Many thanks, Peter.

A great talent. What stays with me is this: I often read of his contract negotiations ('pay me as much as Rather', etc.) What good is all that money now?
