The Jury is still deliberating on Kathryn Knott's trial. After four days of trial and testimony the Jury started deliberating yesterday morning. They seem to be having a hard time reaching a verdict and yesterday afternoon asked to review the video's shown in court; read the full police report and testimony from the initial charges; and have written copies of the prosecution's witnesses and one of the defense witnesses. They resumed this morning and seem to still be deliberating.

I don't know why this case has fascinated me so much. A friend from college knew one of the victims and he is who I originally heard the story from before it became national headlines and was discussed here on BWW. I for one am hoping she is found guilty on at least some of the charges and does some jail time. If she would have taken the plea deal, then the victims, Andrew Haught and Zachary Hesse wouldn't have had to go to trial and relive the events from September 11, 2014. That's the last thing they wanted and this cvnt clearly thinks she is above the law and would get away with it and not be found guilty-- or she would have taken the deal. I highly doubt she was an innocent bystander in this (like the defense is arguing).

The defense is painting the victims as the aggressors and the one's who started the fight and claiming one of them hit one of the females in the group of 15 friends. The Prosecution had three witnesses who saw the fight and were able to testify they saw Knott as one of the attackers. The Defense had four witnesses-- all members of the group of 15 who are friends of Knott. They all say she's innocent and trying to paint her like some saint. However, none of their testimonies were from what they saw, but rather what they heard from others in their group. None of them could go into detail about what happened that night or explain why they didn't inform authorities until after the video footage was shown on the news. Two of the defense witnesses actually were spotted talking during lunch before one of them testified and after the other testified-- which they were forbidden to do. And why could they only get 4 to testify and not the remaining 8 in the group?

I have no idea what the jury's verdict will be. I would hope she gets guilty on at least some of the charges, but it seems that if any of them second guess her involvement in the slightest they will vote not guilty. And if some of them feel she is guilty, but don't think she deserves the hard time she's looking at they may vote that way.....

Also, Kathryn Knott's cousin-- a 19 year old gay boy wrote an open letter on Facebook to the jury yesterday defending his cousin and her character saying she is the least homophobic person..... The good thing is the judge allowed her tweets into the prosecutions case even though the defense fought hard for them not to be allowed.

Unless a verdict has been reached as I've written this, it looks like we should know tomorrow.....

Glad she was found guilty of some of the charges! She probably won't receive Jail time, but hopefully her probation is harsher than the two who took the deal. I guess the jury involved many heated debates and the final verdict ended up being a compromise between the two sides to get it all over with.

Was it 3 charges she was found guilty of or four? I've heard both from different publications. Guilty of simple assault and conspiracy against Zachary Hesse (not guilty against Andrew Haught who took the brunt of the beating). And TWO counts of reckless endangerment-- but other sources say just one count of reckless endangerment.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't three misdemeanor's regarding the same crime equal a felony? Does that differ state to state? Or am I completely wrong in that? The only reason I ask is because one of my close friends was looking at a felony over 3 petty marijuana charges..... Or does that fall under the bull**** war on drugs three strikes rule so it's completely different?

I'm a little happy, though she'll probably be out in a month. This girl and her mother are prime examples why the c-word can be completely appropriate. It just sucks that the other assailants pleaded out to probation and community service as they most likely caused the most damage. Ugh.

Privileged white people aren't used to their bad behavior leading to consequences. This is particularly true when they come from law enforcement families. Sure, I would have been happier if she'd ended up with a stiffer sentence, but the fact that she is spending even a day in jail is more than she and her legal team expected.

I moved to Philly a few months ago and I frequent the bar that the victims who were attacked were coming from just prior to their assault. It is truly a safe space in what is still, by and large, a remarkably not gay-friendly city. Shame on this ingrate for trying to skirt the law at every step, and brava to the judge for blocking her.
