Aww! Are you guys READY today? Rain or Shine! First I want to share these messages:
******************
ATTN: LA attendees, volunteers needed:
Volunteers needed ASAP for City Hall protest on Saturday, November 15, 2008.
If you want to be a volunteer lead, email nicholashenke@gmail.com with the subject line "Volunteer Lead", if you would like to be a general volunteer then be at City Hall Main, 200 N. Spring Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012 at 8am Saturday morning with a yellow shirt in hand and you will be assigned a position there:
Just a small bit about FAIR's mission and goal for the day:
We want SAFETY. First off we are here to ensure that all volunteers and participants are safe and secure at all times. We are here to control the crowd, to urge all participants to stay within marked routes, cooperate with Police and conduct themselves in a positive and encouraging manner. We are not here to insight chaos, we are here to avoid it.
With a large and energetic crowd expected we are in desperate need of volunteers and volunteer leads.
Volunteer Leads: Take charge of a team of 10 volunteers and act as a liaison between your team and the logistics team for the day. This role involves a one hour training which will take place at the village on Friday, November 14 in two sessions. You can choose to attend the 7-8pm session or the 7:30-8:30pm session. If you are interested in this role please email: Volunteer4FAIR@gmail.com with the subject line "Volunteer LEAD".
General Volunteers: Volunteers are the peace keepers, the liaison between the staff, crowd and police…our goal is: NO INJURIES, NO ARRESTS, PEACEFUL PROTEST! Volunteers will be responsible for different tasks throughout the day, but crowd control will be a primary function. If you are interested in general volunteering please contact: Volunteer4FAIR@gmail.com subject line "RSVP Volunteer"
ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST REPORT TO CITY HALL BY 8AM ON SATURDAY. Keep in mind, we are aware of the different abilities of every person that volunteers. If you would like to volunteer for certain times, or you feel uncomfortable committing to a march, we can and will find something to fit your individual needs.
Please remember to bring water, sunscreen and comfortable shoes for Saturday and PLEASE remember to come with a yellow shirt in hand. This is mandatory as all volunteers will be in yellow and it is how we will distinguish ourself from the general group.
PLEASE come out and support this event, a demonstration allowing our voices to be heard and urging law makers to do what is necessary to correct the injustice carried out in California on November 4, 2008.
Stay positive, stay motivated and I hope to see you all Saturday!
Nicholas Henke & Join the Impact

Salina, Kansas?
Salina? That's where they shot the movie "Picnic" in the 1950s. I think fourteen people live there now.
Why not Topeka, or Lawrence (which is the only major liberal community in the state) or Wichita, or Kansas City Kansas (Overland Park), etc.
Salina?
Really?

Posted: 11/15/08 at 11:42amI see most of the states and cities listed are holding their rallies outside City Halls. The dumb@ss city I live in is holding theirs outside of a gay club!

Posted: 11/15/08 at 1:00pmSeattle's begins at a Park, then heads to downtown, but not City Hall. Permit issues, it appears. We're so nice here - we don't protest without permission.

I just got back from a very successful & peaceful rally in Boston, MA> It was raining on and off, but nevertheless..there were estimated 5,000 people who participated in PROTEST PROP. 8 BOSTON. I will post photos later. Thanks for everyone who came, voluntered and participated! The media was there too. Hopefully~it will be on tonight's news at New England Cable News, Channel 7 (NBC Local news) & Channel 5 (ABC) and tomorrow's news in Boston Globe, Phoenix and Patriot Ledger!

Edit : Oops.. It will take me AT LEAST 1 hour to resize and upload all the photos!

Considering it's Saturday and no one will be at City Hall, what is the point?
And HOW MANY "Day Without Gays" is there going to be?
Someone needs to organize this better.

Here are some pics I took today in Chicago. I don't know what the count was, but there were a LOT of people there, many more times over than were at the anti-Dobson rally the other night.

Posted: 11/15/08 at 8:01pmWe committed civil disobedience today by marching without a permit.

We did not even march because our permit is only the protest at City Hall. Were scare-dy here! Wish we match to Boston Common! I still cant believe the whole nationwide protest was organized thru facebook or online. Wow! The world has really changed!

Posted: 11/15/08 at 8:37pmI heard on the news we didn't have a permit to march. I kind of figured as much since we wound up shutting down traffic. There's a protest next weekend at the Cinemark in Evanston.
