Posted: 7/31/06 at 5:21pmOn the block where I work, there are four restaurants - with more restaurants in the general vicinity. A couple of years ago, right at the start of lunchtime, these two trucks started circling downtown with pictures of aborted fetuses on the sides and on the back. As you can imagine, it did wonders for the lunch business. From what I heard working that day, it didn't do any favors to the pro-lifers' cause, either.

What disgusts me about this type of campaign is the idea that anyone is FOR abortion. No. Ideally, abortions would be limited to a BARE minimum. The less abortions carried out, the better for all society. But wanting less abortions is not the same as outlawing them. I take umbrage to the notion that because I'm pro-choice, I'm somehow pro death, or anti babies. There's a lot that I HATE about abortions. But the option to have them done via a safe medical procedure should always be available to women. Always. The solution is to increase sex education, so that abortions become rare, and only carried out when necessary.
But this extremist, sensationalist type of campaign is bs and I'm glad that people on both sides of this issue are disgusted.

Posted: 7/31/06 at 5:47pmYou're totally on, Chica. Who is walking around, saying, "Yay! Dead babies! Got to get me some more of those!" I have a three-year old niece and it pains me to think of her being aborted. But this should still be an option for women who don't have any other viable choices.

I went to the msrch in DC a few years ago. There as a truck, nicknamed 'the fetus truck' that was plastered with pictures of fetuses and was blaring hateful statements from the speakers, like some twisted ice cream truck. What was especially disgusting was that many of the pictures were of fetuses aborted when abortion was not a legal option, so these pictures were especially horrific. It was absolutely the most disgusting thing I have ever seen.
Chica, you are dead on.

I was on my way to a soccer game, and had to stop at the intersection near a womens' health clinic. A bunch of pro-life protestors held up pictures of aborted fetuses to the car window.
I was six.

oh please, in Pittsburgh they rolled out the fetus trucks downtwon purposely on Take Your Child To Work Day so that everyone who brought their kids to work would have them see it.
I go to school right down the street from a Planned Parenthood and every Wednesday and Friday the same old rich guy would hand out little flyers about how bad aboritions were and sometimes little plastic fetuses. It became quite a joke around the school. People put them on the ends of their pencils as erasers.
Finally, Planned Parenthood took out a lwasuit. Nwo the guy can't come within 50 feet. Thank God.
