For some reason, I got the impression that Elizabeth wasn't staying on the island, but rather she would meet him every 10 years on some sort of land. There's no plot in keeping her on an island... at least no interesting plot.

Despite this minor confusion, I don't see the problem with understanding the ending. I thought it was pretty straightforward.

Overall, i really liked it. It confused the heck out of me during the first half, but eventually it kind of made sense. I think, though, that it got weird and too artsy at parts.it felt like it was trying too hard. The electric guitar thing was jarringly out of place, and the whole Jack/ delusional/ lots of Jacks thing was just un-nessecarily wierd. Also, as cute as the dog and monkey are, enough is enough.

I keep hearing rumors about a deleted scene- That if the lover is faithful for ten years and turns up to meet him, the curse is lifted. Any one else heard this rumor? I can't find concrete evidence. That would be a much more satisfying ending.

I enjoyed it more than the second, but still not as much as the first. I find that the second and the third movies took themselves too seriously in an attempt to be more epic than the content allowed. I thought the whole Calypso storyline got a little silly and, in the end, was kind've...completely pointless? She...made a maelstrom and some rain? There was a lot of setup for some kind of resolution with her and Davy Jones, with no payoff. Frustrating.

While I never got lost in the plot, I do still think that it was a little...too full of plot. Like it was trying to make up for a deficit in the second movie, which was all set-up.

I'm of the opinion that Elizabeth is gonna get her own ship and sail around. Being pirate queen and all. How badass to not only be the leader of all the pirates, but to be the wife of the new Davy Jones? Nobody would mess with you. re: Pirates 3 SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS

Can someone tell me what happened at the scene after the credits? I didn't know about it when I went. re: Pirates 3 SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS (You can PM me if people don't want it put on the main thread.)

*SPOILER*

The scene after the credits shows Elizabeth walking up a hill towards the sea, with a ten-year-boy (their son) with her. You see a green flash on the horizon, the Flying Dutchman appears: close up of Will smiling, close up of Elizabeth smiling- the end

It made me so sad!
But please... has anyone heard about this deleted scene?!?

Yeah, I've heard rumors about that deleted scene as well... I heard that the scene explained that if Calypso had remained loyal to Davy Jones and greeted him after the 10 years had passed the curse would be lifted. My only evidence is from reading it on wikipedia and hearing about it from other people, so I'm not sure how reliable my sources are.

So, I finally watched this on DVD, and wikipedia helped me with the convoluted plot. However, I don't understand why Beckett simply allowed his ship to be attacked by the Pearl and the Dutchman near the end of the film.

Anyone?!?

It's because he wasn't expecting his perfect plan to turn on him. And the Flying Dutchman is notorious for being the most powerful, so with it fighting against him, not with him, it would be a huge loss.

But more so the fact that he wasn't expecting it to turn on him.

Even though he had like a bazillion ships in his armada behind him?!? That's kind of dumb ... but thanks for the help!

Yeah, he's just such an arrogant asshole he's never been double crossed before.

And the pirates also had quite a few ships too, not as many, but with the Flying Dutchman on their side, they would have won.
