during the campaignn, and at the start of his presidency Obama declared himself opposed to gay marriage, now hes for it. so was he an evil anti-gay devil until a couple of months ago? if so is that proof that someone can change their position? or did was/is he playing politics with peoples lives which is just as bad.

Obama never made a campaign of demonizing gay people. He never said the "war" against marriage equality was "God's war". And the Pope has not changed his stance on gay marriage like Obama has. You're comparing apples and oranges and that's not logical.

i understand the point youre making erik, but please hear me out. he campaigned on the sactity of marriage annd all that nonsense blah blah blah.... and obama just changed his mind on being for gay marriage 5 years later sayinng it "evolved". yes, now he is on the right side of history, but before he wasnt. my point is obama and pope had the same antigay view on marriage for how ever long they have both been alive before a few months ago, The mans been pope for a day, it took the President 5 years to get it right. so for 5 years he was evil anti-gay marriage. .

PERHAPS IM THE Wrong person to argue this since im not a roman catholic or a gay so i will butt out now

But Obama and the Pope never had the same "antigay" views. Obama may have originally been agaisnt gay marriage but he never condemned gays to hell.
Also...it's not as if the Pope's views on gay marriage are the only thing that make the Vatican the most evil organization in the world. I don't know of any other organization that could engage in a massive cover up of child sex abuse and still get people to donate money to it.

child molestation is horrible but need i remind you of all the public school teachers who have molested children? and the coverups?
it shouldnt be forgotten either that the church though against gays are acknowledged to be the first responders in carinng for dying aids victimms when the US GVT and most of the world ignored it,
the Vatican is also responsible for alot of the greatest art ever produced, exploring the world beyond Europe and nobody does more charity work in the third world with the worlds havenots then the church

ABC News’ Barack Obama’s nuanced position on same-sex marriage is on full display in an MTV interview which is set to air on Monday.

Obama told MTV he believes marriage is "between a man and a woman" and that he is "not in favor of gay marriage."

At the same time, Obama reiterated his opposition to Proposition 8, the California ballot measure which would eliminate a right to same-sex marriage that the state’s Supreme Court recently recognized.

"I’ve stated my opposition to this. I think it’s unnecessary," Obama told MTV. "I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. I am not in favor of gay marriage.
"Usually, our constitutions expand liberties, they don’t contract them," he added.

We're all aware of that interview. But an interview on MTV is a far cry from "campaigning on the sanctity of marriage"--particularly when, even then, he supported civil unions for same-sex couples.

You're really comparing that to the new pope's assertion that marriage equality is a "move by the father of lies [i.e., Satan] to confuse and deceive"?
