When I was much younger, there was lot I didn't know about before an older friend introduced me to the classics. I will always be greatful to him for inviting me to watch some classic films with him and a bunch of friends, because it introduced me to a whole new world of performing techniques, writers, actors, directors - hell, you name it. That is one reason I don't think that a film should be remade when it has already been done excellently at least once. How can you improve upon perfection?
Sure, many of the younger set would be more eager to watch it if it starred some addle-brained current pop star, but they'd be missing out on something truly wonderful.
