I saw images of the damage on the local news. Absolutely horrific. Thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims and their families.

I find that "I'm speechless" is often an overused phrase, but I am truly unable to convey my sadness and shock at this tragedy.

I want to hug everybody there who lost a loved one or even all their material possessions.

Somehow donating money doesn't seem enough. But I guess there is nothing more I can realistically do.

For anyone who might be interested there are already listings up on Etsy where part (or all) of the proceeds go to relief.

So how, it appears that the death toll may be significantly revised down from 91 to 24. Hoping against hope. Small blessings.

It'll be interesting to see how Oklahoma's senators, who have consistently voted against aid for other disasters (including Sandy) as well as funding for FEMA, try to justify the federal government providing assistance to the victims of this tragedy.

Hopefully the senators will be chased out of office.

The people need the aid. Every bit of it. Send it to them, and get those senators out there with their sleeves rolled up doing some actual work.

I don't understand why aid needs to be voted on at all.

Obama once again plays role of Comforter in Chief.

He has had to do this too many times already.

Oklahoma - you guys are strong - and know you have the rest of this country standing with and behind you.

I don't understand why aid needs to be voted on at all.

I know. When it's so inarguably and desperately needed you would think it would be a no-brainer. But that's politics over people for you. (I guess that last phrase could be read either of two ways and be taken accurately.)

Let's elaborate, please.

If you didn't see Jon Stewart's Moment of Zen from last night's The Daily Show regarding the Oklahoma tornadoes, here it is (it's a very sweet clip about a lost dog):

I heard about this while I was away on vacation. Such sad news. My thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by this terrible weather.
