Hi guys,
Long time no see. But I just had to let everyone know that you all need to see this re-make of "Pride and Prejudice" coming out with Keira Knightley, it's amazing!
I hope everyone is doing well.
XOXO

Posted: 8/30/05 at 3:01pmI use to think that until I saw her in recent projects. But I understand how you feel, however the film is amazing! I still reccomend it!

Posted: 8/30/05 at 3:03pmI am very surprised at the remake...the Colin Firth/Jennifer Ehle is still pretty fresh in people's minds (especially mine!)

Posted: 8/30/05 at 3:08pmi am a big austinophile and will probably see this. i even saw Bride & Prejudice, as it was 2 of my favorite sub-groups combined -- jane austin and bollywood.wah!

Posted: 8/30/05 at 3:28pmThe thing is, I love the novel but how many movies do they want to make of this? And I agree, I don't much like Keira Knightley

Posted: 8/30/05 at 3:30pmi don't see her as elizabeth bennett AT ALL! no maam.

i've seen this book in the store --but i have not had time to read it so i never bought it. is it good? there is a big difference between reading jane austin and reading about people reading jane austin. i will read it if it's good, though. i read the Reading Lolita book and that was great.

Posted: 8/30/05 at 3:42pmI didn't like it. It was okay but not amazing..kind of dull, not at all what I expected it to be. The conversations they had about the books were interesting, but the book really followed their personal lives and while it wasn't awful it just wasn't mind-blowing.

Posted: 8/30/05 at 3:43pmI do want to see this film when it opens over here but when I saw the trailer recently I thought the film was suffering an identity crisis - it thinks it's 'Wuthering Heights'...Keira looked like Catherine Earnshaw standing on top of the windswept Pennistone Crags and Matthew MacFadyen was doing his best at a Heathcliff impression. Still, we'll see.

Posted: 8/30/05 at 3:45pmYou know what my problem was with the trailer? Anyone ever seen the movie EMMA? I mean, I know they're Jane Austen novels turned movies so they'll be similar but the setting, the sets...everything looked EXACTLY the same to me...

Posted: 8/30/05 at 3:47pmI really liked 'The Jane Austen Book Club' - I thought it was a sweet book...

Posted: 8/30/05 at 3:59pmI actually did think a lot of "Emma" when I saw this movie. There is one terrible actress in the film that will drive you NUTS! Jenna Malone. I do not like her acting and she is so freaking obnoxious in this film!

Posted: 8/30/05 at 4:05pmKeira Knightly is striking, but not exactly beautiful IMO. Not that it matters a ton here. It's the older actors who really appeal to me- Brenda Blethyn! Judi Dench! And Pride and Prejudice is my favorite Austen, so this movie is on my "interesting" list.

Posted: 8/30/05 at 4:05pmStill the best film adapatation of Austen is 'Sense And Sensibility'. Emma Thompson did an amazing job - faithful to the book but not dogged by the material either.

Posted: 8/30/05 at 4:07pmI liked "Sense And Sensibility". I couldn't stand "Emma"..not sure why..I think I just didn't like Gwenyth Paltrow's performance

Posted: 8/30/05 at 4:11pmHey, SallyBrown - wasn't Emma Thompson wonderful in that last scene when she realises that Edward isn't married after all. The total range of emotions are just incredible - laughter through heartbreak and THAT smile she gives him with tears streaming down her face. That's the moment the film was building to.

Posted: 8/30/05 at 4:17pmemma was amazing. she managed a wonderfully clear realization of the story -- which is less event driven and much more internal than P & P. i love the scene where she tells maryann how she is REALLY feeling.

Posted: 8/30/05 at 4:21pmOf course, this begs the question- Clueless- best Austen adaptation ever? :P
#24re: 'Pride and Prejudice'
Posted: 8/30/05 at 4:28pmHonestly I liked "Clueless" more than "Emma", and "Emma" had Ewan...
