re: Primetime Emmy Awards tonight...

Kudos all around for a thoroughly entertaining Emmy Awards Show.

Hell, even Jimmy Fallon came off well.
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

So glad the brilliant Michael Emerson was recognized. He's created absolutely one of the most memborable characters on television.

Cherry's win was surprising to me. She was all right, but I never watched her and thought, "She's going to win an Emmy." However, two years ago, when Jean Smart played Martha Logan, I thought she absolutely should have won. I still can't believe they overlooked that performance.

Despite the monotony of it, I do think The Amazing Race is the best reality show on TV, and deserving of its 7th trophy. I hope they reward Phil one of these years, though.

I thought NPH did a great job. He is certainly proving himself, between this and the Tonys, to be the ideal host for these awards shows. I hope the Oscars are paying attention...

I thought Neil Patrick Harris was a wonderful host, and was shocked that he didn't take the award home. Jon Cryer? Seriously? Who voted for him? Neil Patrick Harris, Rainn Wilson, Jack McBrayer, and Tracy Morgan are all so much funnier and are in better shows.
I was also disappointed by a Cranston second win (how John Hamm lost both awards he was nominated for is beyond me), and while I love Cherry Jones (and I confess I've never seen an episode of 24), when are they going to give the award to Chandra Wilson who is consistently giving terrific performances on GREY'S ANATOMY?
It was a very odd evening. I love Kristin Chenoweth, thought she was beyond wonderful in PUSHING DAISIES, and was pleased by her victory, but I really thought that Jane Krakowski, Kristen Wiig, and Amy Poehler should have won before her.
Only surprised of the evening I was pleased about was Toni Collette's win, US OF TARA is one of my favorite shows and Collette owns the role of Tara as much as she owns Tara's alters. It's one of the best performances of her career and it was glad to see her take home the award.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"

ray, Collette's win was a pleasant surprise for me as well. I love THE UNITED STATES OF TARA.

Carell so deserves the Emmy. Yes, Alec Baldwin is funny, but Carell plays funny, clueless, sad, needy, lovesick, business-savvy, pathetic, and loving. The genius of Michael Scott is that he's a loser that you can't help but root for.

I can't really address that because I don't watch the Office, but in general, Steve Carell gets on my last nerve.

When they did the memorial section, the first picture was lost because there was no closeup of it. I wonder who it was.God, we lost a lot this year - so far.

Kudos to Glenn Close & Cherry Jones. Both need to come back to Broadway but with the success of their respective shows,I doubt it will be anytime soon.

Neil Patrick Harris made the show bearable. Without him, forget it.

Got a longish e-mail from Levi. Kathy Griffin was once again supposed to be his date but there was a last minute "scheduling conflict".

Perhaps I'm the only one who cares about this but I'm posting it anyhow.
