Whatever is decided at 10am here in California, will be heated, and will send people out in the streets.
Wouldn't suprise me at all if the Supreme Court uphelds the election's decision.
However anyone feels about marriage - man/woman, man/man, woman/woman, that's really not the issue. The issue is that Prop 8 legalized discrimination, and that's just wrong. Anyway you look at it. And, at the same time, the law has to be upheld. So, either way, it's gonna be tense.
So, we'll see.

Less than an hour. I'm getting nervous.
I know it's going to be bad. I'm trying to psych myself out so I won't be too upset, but inside I'm deeply saddened.

Posted: 5/26/09 at 12:19pmYou don't wait several days to announce good news. No one said "Oh, let's not spoil the sad memories of the White Night Riots with some happy news for the Castro!" They didn't deliver all those barricades to curtail the dancing in the streets.

"Thousands of outraged conservatives took to the streets of the Castro to protest the California Supreme Court's reinstatement of gay marriage. Drunken, deliriously happy gays rushed out of the bars to bludgeon the protesters with handbags, IPODs and rolled up copies of Mandate."

I still think that it may be overturned on a technicality - the whole fundamental right amendment via majority vote is very scary.
If it is upheld, look for an initiative in 2010 to legalize it. (And for good measure, to make it illegal for Mormons to marry, since if it is upheld, we only need 50% of the population to agree to that).
