I know we've talked about bad audience behavior, but what about behavior in public in general. I was at a restaurant today, and there was this family sitting across from me. One of the kids (maybe about age 6 or so) wanted to sit by dad, so mom had her WALK ACROSS the table. I suppose it was way too far for her to just walk around the table. Jeesh. Then their meal came, and all I could think about was how sanitary the table was after the kiddie took a stroll on it. Hmmmm....
Anyone else witness questionable public behavior?

maybe the beotch on a flight from Dallas to Detroit, who felt it appropriate to change a diaper in the seat NEXT TO ME.
I just started gagging and going EWW, and pretending to throw-up......she got the message and went back to a bathroom.
I'm sorry, but I do NOT want to see or smell your lids poop, lady

Posted: 6/18/06 at 3:35pmEwwwww....I remember something else. I was in the ladies' room at a casino one time, and this little old lady at the sink next to me popped out her false teeth and proceeded to clean them at the sink. Now, I have a very strong stomach and it takes quite alot to make it turn - but I'd have to say she nearly made me hurl. Yikes!

You're nicer than I would have been. I would have looked her straight in the eye and said (loudly), "Do you F***ING MIND????"

Posted: 6/18/06 at 7:46pmWhy, I had such an experience just yerterday! I went out to dinner at Red Robin (which isn't the quietest place to start with) and we were seated right next to a big party of people about my age (eary 20s) and they were all hammered. And loud. You know when someone's so drunk they don't laugh, they scream? That's how drunk they were. I think the highlight was when one of the girls did something to one of they guys to make him scream in pain. The whole place went silent. You gotta go a ways to silence a Red Robin crowd...

Posted: 6/18/06 at 8:21pmI don't have anything to contribute to this (just as I didn't with the audience behavior thread) beause I am so damn oblivious I sometimes walk right past people I know. Anyway, I enjoy reading your posts and keep them coming.

Posted: 6/18/06 at 8:46pmMy spanish teacher from last year picked her teeth with scissors while I was presenting my project to the class. I stopped mid-sentence, gave her a look, and the next day I threw toothpicks all over her desk before she got to class.

Posted: 6/19/06 at 12:17amI actually had a substitute teacher who kept stuffing tissue up both of his nostrils because he had blood coming out, and he just kept the damn tissue in there too! It was gross to look at because he kept on messing with the tissue and kept touching parts of our teacher's desk. It was just so gross.

I'm trying to think of stories. Hmm.
This was actually a stage door story. I have to preface it by saying I know I'm describing stereotypical people, but trust me, they were.
It was at Phantom's most recent stop in SF, in the summer of 2003. Lisa Vroman came out and everyone was oohing and aahing and getting autographs. As always, she was dressed elegantly, in a nice jacket and scarf. Three people walked by who I swear if you put in a movie now, the NAACP would boycott.
All three were black. The one I remember most was a thin lady in a torn up black leather jacket. She had possibly two real teeth and the rest were gold. They were all eating sunflower seeds and passing the bag around, and she was talking to the two men as seeds flew from her mouth (and theirs, too).
"Hey, who is she? He, she somebody important! Get her to sign somethin'!"
The two men were completely stumped.
"Hey, you gotta get one of those books." (Souvenir brochures.) "Where you get those?"
They eventually gave up because the crowd was so large and they had no idea how to get a brochure.
===========
The other day I was stuck on a BART train with about 15 drunken A's fans, and this was BEFORE the game. I swear half of them were underage, too.
They were all hooting and hollering and the rest of us were just rolling our eyes. Now, I can sleep through most anything and I figured I could manage this. This was even a challenge. They started clapping in rhythm and chanting, "Let's go A's!" "Let's go A's!"
They had to get off before I did, since they had to transfer trains. Except they didn't know what to do so one guy yelled, "HEY, A'S FANS! A'S FANS! WHERE DO WE TRANSFER?!"
They got their answer and kept on chanting.
They got to their stop. One of the guys patted my shoulder (AND I WAS ALMOST ASLEEP!) and said, "Hey, take it easy!" I flipped him off and his ho said to me, "You don't have to be a bitch!" as they exited, except it came out, "Y'don haffta beuh bish!"

Posted: 6/19/06 at 12:27amI recently picked up a second job hosting in a local restaurant. There's this woman who eats in there about three time a week, and everytime she comes up to the register to pay, she digs around in her teeth with her fingers. Not her fingernails, her fingers. And her teeth? They move around. This is all taking place while we're exchanging the check and money, so I have to TOUCH this stuff while she's doing that. It takes a lot to outdo asshats on cell phones, but this woman has done it. Congratulations.

This isn't that kind of a story but still pretty nasty.
A kid at my high school smeared his feces on the wall of the bathroom...
He wanted attention.
I kid you not.

Oh! Another.
I was on a bus in Oakland with some friends. This particular route goes through Chinatown, so there are often little old Chinese ladies with pink plastic shopping bags.
We got to some stop and a little old Chinese man with a cane came on. He wanted a handicapped seat. The bus was pretty full at this point. He turned to a (non-Asian) woman in a seat and started shaking her little metal cart. "I HANDICAP! I HANDICAP!!!" because he wanted her to get up! She was probably just as frail as he was.
Some of the passengers who were not stunned into silence started talking to him in Chinese, but he wouldn't stop. Eventually the bus driver stopped the bus and then threatened to call the police, so he stopped.

Posted: 6/19/06 at 1:07amI was at Olive Garden last week, and there was a group of girls my age at the table next to us. One of them pulled out tweezers and started plucking her eyebrows. While their food was on the table. Not necessarily gross, but...weird.

At my sister's graduation, there was this girl that was sitting a 2 rows behind me (actually, sitting on the floor of the aisle) as someone's guest. They were getting towards the last few letters of the alphabet of the role call and this girl starts *shouting* "YEAH KEVIN! YEAH TYLER! YEAH '06! YEAH!" I can't even describe to you how loud it was, but basically the kind of scream you would use to get someone's attention from across a busy 4 lane highway.
Now, I figured she was just excited for her friend/brother/whoever that was about to be announced. Um, there were no Kevin/Tylers left on the list to be called. She was screaming at the top of her lungs for people that had already been called and were waiting quietly in their seats. She was also screaming so loud that other people couldn't hear their own child's names being called. Her mother (grandmother?) was sitting next to her and kept telling her to hush, but she ignored her. Then another 3 people in her family started telling her to shut up and she didn't listen to any of them and continued to shout until the end of the role call (20 names later), when everyone cheered and applauded and drowned her out.
Ugh, it was like this girl had been raised in a football stadium and could. not. get that her behavior was inappropriate for this occasion. If I were the grandmother, I would have smacked her across the face.
Wanting life but never knowing how
