Remember in history class when you were so outraged that the US knew about the holocaust and did nothing? It's happening again, in Aleppo.

Immediatly after seeing Pal Joey's post about Putin's approval rating I found myself googling individuals from the log of MH17. That may pale in comparison to the sheer scale of what's going in Syria at this very moment but it's sobering enough if you need a reminder of just how barbaric Russia's current position in world affairs is.

I think people in 1945 could just about get away with pretending that reports were unconfirmed and the holocaust was beyond the scope of imagination until the Allied troops liberated the camps. I'm afraid that we don't have that luxury in this age, given the past 10 years of Western foreign policy towards Assad's regime and the impossible corner our respective governments have relegated themselves into.

If I may, I'd like to add that in 1945 broadcast television sets were no where close to ubiquitous in US households, coaxial cable tv in residences was virtually nonexistent, telegraph service was cost prohibitive in rural parts of the nation, pc/laptop/tablet/smartphones did not exist, and the Internet's predecessor ARPANET wasn't even a proof-of-concept. In that era, folks mainly relied on radio, newspapers, and word of mouth to keep abreast of world events, especially those in rural and/or underserved communities. And there was no satellite technology by which war correspondents could chronicle events on the ground as well as upload images/film footage in near real-time. As an exercise, try to imagine life now without the Internet, HDTV, laptops, smartphones, satellites, drones, and digital media. Perspective can't be overvalued.

Only the unhinged OP can blame a man who is not even in office yet for Syria.
He of course lets the real person off hook who dared Assad to cross his RED LINE. But he did, then dared him again, and he did again laughing in his and United States face:
