I went with a friend to see this this afternoon (Thanks, Moviepass!) and Oh My Godnesses, it was fantastic! I'm shocked this didn't receive more buzz around award season! Of course Maggie Smith was amazing but Pauline Collins was BRILLIANT. I want to go back and see this again tomorrow!

Give yourself some time. I saw it the weekend it opened and liked it well enough, even though it seemed to have been created via the official BBC/NPR lovable old people script generator. But it has no staying power, and if you think about it, it really doesn't make any sense. (Just how much WERE the tickets to that last show, anyway???)
I really enjoyed Quartet. It was very sweet and had great music. The production design was gorgeous and Dustin Hoffman constantly kept the screen filled with great visuals that didn't distract from the story. It's not the most innovative story in the world but it is exceptionally well-executed. That final stretch at the benefit was really engaging.
Probably about 10,000 each if they're hoping to raise enough money from that small audience to keep the nursing home open for a full year (I guess they residents don't pay anything to live there) but even with all that aside, I just thought the performances were terrific enough to make up for things like that. But I do see what you're saying.

I fell madly in love with this. Easily my favorite film of the year - and would've loved to have seen Maggie Smith nominated for her wonderful performance. Along with Shirley Valentine -- Pauline Collins. But she'll always be Shirley to me.
