Question about "HOUSE"
#1Question about "HOUSE"
Posted: 5/7/07 at 11:44pmI am just getting involved in this TV series - do we know how House hurt his leg?
#2re: Question about 'HOUSE'
Posted: 5/8/07 at 12:00amPlease correct me if I am wrong, but the muscle in his leg is dead due to a botched surgery.

Semi-correct, actually. He had an infarction in his leg that was misdiagnosed until the majority of his muscle tissue was dead. Rather than agreeing to have his leg amputated as was suggested, House wanted to have the blood clot removed in the hopes that he would be able to regain the use of his leg. Unfortunately, this caused all of the toxins that had had built up to be fully released into his blood stream, causing excruciating pain that was potentially life threatening. He chose to be put into a medically induced coma so that he wouldn't have to feel the worst of the pain. While he was in the coma, his girlfriend Stacy (being his medical by proxy) decided to have all of the dead muscle removed from his leg as a compromise procedure. As a result, he has practically no useable muscle in his leg and still feels extreme residual pain as a result of having the clot removed.
And to think that I knew all of that from memory! This is all explained in the episode "Three Stories" from the first season.

Nice recap Kitzarina! I enjoy House in general (although I'm not really enjoying the whole 'Cuddy wants a baby' storyline), but "Three Stories" is possibly one of the best episodes of television of any show ever- the backstory was great, and the Humanitas and Emmy wins were so well deserved!

I dearly love "House," even though I practically never watch the episodes when they first air. "Veronica Mars" will always be my number one show. I have zero problem reading TWoP recaps for "House" and getting the DVDs from Netflix.
"Three Stories" is probably my favorite episode--it's pretty much brilliant.

i am completely obsessed with HOUSE and I've always wondered why there hasn't been a thread for it on this board. It seems like there's a thread for every other show and, seeing as this is one of the top-rated shows in America, you would think it would get an appreciation thread.
So, the magic question: House with Cuddy, or house with Cameron? or, even better, House with Wilson?
#9re: Question about 'HOUSE'
Posted: 5/8/07 at 9:42amThanks, Kitzarina! Wonderful explanation. This show seems to be fond of medically induced comas - there was another one last night. And they showed House's damaged leg - what a mess, although I have (unfortunately) seen worse. Have they altered the original cast much, if at all? I only ask because in hospitals the staff shuffles every July 1 - which is why you should never enter a teaching hospital voluntarily in the summer months - all newbies (supervised, of course, but still...).

House with Wilson- heh. Do you also spend time over at Television without Pity? :)
Much as I hate the whole meshing together of names, I am a total Huddy shipper, and in fact I'm hoping that the 'clues' I've been seeing is past eps are leading to a past relationship reveal. Cameron is just- ugh! So annoying!! I actually laughed when House called her on the "you are not actually playing the dead husband card, are you?" in a past episode, and it shouldn't be funny, but the way she carries on and on and is just such a whiner at times I will absolutely laugh when she gets called out on playing the dead husband 'card.'

I'm with you, Anakela--I'm a total Huddy fan. Cameron bothered me to no end during the first season, but she gets slightly better with each year that passes.
As far as I know, there haven't been any significant cast changes. I do miss the appearances of Evil Nurse Brenda, though.

Posted: 5/8/07 at 10:22amI actually don't see a relationship between any of them. Maybe Wilson or Cuddy, but definetly not Cameron. I agree, she can be quite annoying. :)

Obviously I'm a huge fan, hee. I still think Three Stories is one of the best episodes to date, along with the season 2 finale...but I won't give that away for anyone who doesn't want to be spoiled. I hate Cameron though. HATE. Nothing against the actress, but I just can't stand that character. I'm all for House/Cuddy, but not for anything longterm. You know he'd much rather be with Wilson.
This is why I love DVR. I watch House first and then watch Veronica Mars afterwards.

Posted: 5/8/07 at 10:25amHouse was created as a modern Sherlock Holmes ("Homes" = House). Like Holmes, he is a flawed man with a very logical mind, but is addicted to drugs and uses his associates as a sounding bord, not real people...

House and Sherlock Holmes have the same house (hee) address, 221B. That just makes me giggle.
Agreed that Jennifer Morrison as an actress bugs less these days than she did in season 1 (especially the first few episodes of season 1- man there was a point where I would have been ok with them keeping the horror that was the Volger storyline (what a hot mess THAT was) if there was a way they could use that to get rid of Cameron). But Cameron is just so- ugh, and it's not even always the character that bugs me, but rather also the way tptb tried to shove the whole "Cameron + House = one tru luv" down our throats. Gag.
She does have some bright spots, though- like Cameron's sex could kill you speech, which I still love.

Posted: 5/8/07 at 11:03ami'm so glad I'm not the only one who finds Cameron's character totally off-putting. Especially lately, the way she's treated Chase! Now I know a lot of people aren't fond of Chase but he's one of my favorite characters and he's been nothing but sweet to her and she's still been a total bitch to him, which actually makes no sense with her character. The way she's self-righteous and irritating just drives me nut.s I like House and Cuddy together a lot, they seem like equals to me. They can handle each other. Cameron's still too much of a whiny little girl to be able to handle spending too much alone time with House.

Cameron is irritating, but I love when House makes fun of her. I like having her there just for House's cracks.
New episode tonight!
Keen on Kean - rent the first season on DVD. If nothing else, than for the "Three Stories" episode everyone here is talkng about (it was the season 1 finale). It was brilliant.

Posted: 5/8/07 at 1:40pmThanks, peach - with all the raves for the "Three Stories" episode, I've already hit Amazon.com. Also there appears to be a book that discusses the medical aspects of HOUSE. Anyone read it (sorry I forgot to note the author - I'll check)?

i read on one fo those celebrity gossip magazines (i think it was "in touch") that hugh laurie is the only one who re-newed his contract. they said that there's a chance not all the charecters will be returning next season.
i'm wondering if it has annything to do with jesse (chase) and jennifer (cameron) getting married.

I have just gotten into HOUSE this season and absolutely love it. My library has the seasons to take but they are always out. So right now I am saving up to buy the first two seasons, so hopefully I can relive everything.
I love me some Hugh Laurie, he is brilliant on the show and "A Little Bit of Fry and Laurie" has got to be one of the funniest sketch comedy shows in the history of the world, but I have the biggest crush on Robert Sean Leonard. My history teacher is a HOUSE fan and he told the class that he saw him in A LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO THE NIGHT a few years back and I was incredibly jealous. I would love to see him in a stage production.
