Question about "HOUSE"

I also just started getting into the show. I'm not sure why I didn't start watching it from the beginning because it's definitely my kind of show...but a few weeks ago I started watching re-runs on USA and fell in love. I just finished the first season through netflix, and I should be getting the start of season 2 in a few days...so hopefully by the fall I'll be all caught up on everything.
#27re: Question about 'HOUSE'
Posted: 5/8/07 at 6:28pmI missed the entire first year of LOST and spent two days catching up before the beginning of the second season. Ditto NCIS. Strange way to choose what to watch on TV, but I guess I just don't buy the initial hype when a show starts out.

spoiler for tonight's ep...
IN HER EYE!!! EWWWWWW!!!
Sorry, I have such issues with things in the eye. Especially with needles. ewwww. Totally watched that scene through my fingers.

and yet I had no problems with the scene with her head/the MRI machine. It's just eyes that make me do that. I wonder if there's a name for 'fear of watching stuff touch eyeballs.' It's like that puff of air machine when you go to the eye doc- ewwww.
Hey can someone recap the 'scenes from next week's House' for me? My tiVo kicked over to L&O: SVU before I got to the scenes from next week.

**SEASON 2 SPOILER**
Speaking of eyes, remember on the season finale of the second season where that guy kept swelling, and eventually his eye popped out of it's socket. UGH . . . I literally made a shriek noise and had to turn away. I hate things involving the eyes, too! But that is, I think, my favorite episode so far.

Any time anyone throws up (tv, movies, real life) makes me feel like I'm just two seconds behind 'em.
The recent episode with everybody losing it on a plane almost did me in.

Posted: 5/9/07 at 12:44amYawper - I used to work in a hospital, and I could handle every kind of crisis with complete calm except a patient throwing up. Like you, I have a fast gag reflex and the sound (even on a TV show) makes me very uncomfortable. At least it prevents me from drinking a lot!

SPOILERS FROM LAST NIGHT:
I can't stand Pipere Perabo. I also can't stand that they keep making these women appear as potential love interests for House. This show is a lot better when he's alone, which definitely meets with his character. I really wish that they would bring Foreman back and get rid of her. Even though Foreman has really been getting no my nerves lately. And I LOVE that chase is totally turniing into House. It's really cute.
Oh, and lest we forget Wilson TOTALLY STONED! That was THE FUNNIEST THING EVER. Oh, I loved it so very very much.

The episode about two weeks ago still haunts me: the idea of having bone marrow removed without being knocked out first reeeally made me squirm!
Wow, I love this show.

I just got in to this show this year. I ordered all of the past episodes from Netflix. I think Robert Sean Leanord plays so well off of Hugh Laurie. Especially the spisode where House organized a lecture by a doctor whom he cheated off of (and eventually got expelled from) med school.
Cameron bugs. The Aussie guy is a wimp. Love Cuddy and I believe they've revealed in a past episode that House and Cuddy had a fling once.

The funny thing about the whole eye phobia that we have (me, included...I have endured the horror of more compressed-air glaucoma tests than you can imagine) is that you actually don't feel ANYTHING at all. It's the anticipation that makes you freak out...and our innate dread of blindness, which is our instinctive reaction to ANYTHING coming toward our eye. Object in the eye = blindness, and that just KILLS us.
And how GREAT that he figured out she tried to kill herself that way!!!
#39re: Question about 'HOUSE'
Posted: 5/9/07 at 10:35amWell, I actually HAVE glaucoma and I have to hae those tests once every month, about...they still freak me out, honestly, even though I can only see out of my right eye and so they only have to do it on one eye. But it's much worse now becuase they measure my cornea thickness all the time with this instruent that has a cone-shaped thing on the end that they stick into your eye and they ibrate. It doesn't hurt, it doesn't really feel like anything, but it's scary as hell to see this sharp-looking thing coming at your eye. Then again, the eye thing last night didn't freak me out at all, probably because of that. Funny thing is, I don't realloy mind getting stuff in my eye because, unlike what Jaily said, I have no fear of going blind whatsoever--maybe becuase I know that I would be completely prepared for it if it happened (I can read Braille and use a cane and all that fun stuff).

I like Piper Perabo and hope that she will be on the show next season.
The eye thing made me squirm. I'm generally pretty tough, but the eye is ....the eye!

spider- yeah, I totally watched that scene through my fingers too!
I wear contacts, so I'm touching my own eyes at least twice a day, and I have no problem with that. No issues with giving myself eyedrops either. But for some reason anything else with the eye just freaks me the heck out- I'm totally convinced sometimes that the HOUSE people do eye things on purpose, because like a lot of people who are 'ok' with everything else they throw on the tv (for example, I have no issues with vomit scenes or blood) just start to freak as soon as the sfx camera starts looking at the eye...ewwww!
I can't stand Pipere Perabo. I also can't stand that they keep making these women appear as potential love interests for House. This show is a lot better when he's alone, which definitely meets with his character.
Word! Piper whatshername feels like another Vogler thing, which if you've ever read interviews with David Stone, Fox made him put in a villain, and that's how/why Vogler came about...sorry, I know it was wayback in season one, but can you tell how still bitter I am about the hot mess that was the Vogler arc? So it's like this year Fox said "you know what we need? a hot chick, to keep more of those American Idol viewers watching."

Ok..so the eye thing was a little freaky...but not as bad as "My head! Ow! My head!" and the camera whips around to show her brain bursting out of her skull!
Didn't that freak anyone else out???? I mean...one minute you're fine, the next, your brain is popping out?

Ugh, my mom seriously screamed when her head exploded or whatever. I can usually put up with that stuff pretty well, I'm usually pretty good at holding it together, but that scene will haunt my nightmares forever!
Vogler was a bad storyline. So was the Tritter one from earlier this year. So WHY do they insist upon bringing in crappy new characters to screw up everything? Especially when they're named "Honey." WTF is that?

Yeahh, the brain thing got me, too. I totally wasn't expecting anything so crazy to happen (although it IS television). I made a chain of disgusted noises. And then, since my head has been hurting A LOT lately, I started feeling the back of my head to see if I felt like it might explode. I'll admit, the whole thing was a bit ridiculous.

See, the brain thing I was ok with. I mean, not 'ok' ok, of course, it got an 'ew, gross' and such, but I could watch it at least. The eye stuff I completely had to cover my eyes for, and I was watching it alone so I didn't even have someone else in the room would could tell me it was ok to look again! :)
(spoilers below?)
Tritter! I just completely blocked Tritter from my mind. Although, at least Tritter gave us the 'Cuddy lied on the stand to save House' scene, which was just awesome.
Maybe they bring out the horrible guest star arcs to make us appreciate the core house folks that much more once the guest star finally leaves?
