Em,
You can get explorer on a mac, it came pre-loaded on mine in my Applications folder. Check there, if it's not there you can download it.
...but I'm with everyone else that says learn safari :)
meagan, I'm curious - what's there to learn with Safari? I just got it 4 days ago and I don't see anything new to learn from IE.
Exactly.
I got a new mac last night and IE came loaded on that one too.
Meagan, I PMed you.
Em, everytime I see one of your Mac help threads I just think of the part in Wayne's World when Garth says, "Change? We fear change." And then I smile really big.
I HATE IE. I will never, ever use that program again if I can avoid it. And I haven't gotten used to Safari yet.... I know this sounds stupid, but I think the size of the Safari browser bothers me for some reason. It's too skinny.
So basically, for right now I'm going to stick with Firefox and hope that it doesn't start giving me problems.
sweet, why don't you just make the window bigger or smaller?
Hah! Hahaha.
I thought that you'd have to resize it every time you opened a new browser window. Obviously not.
I'm silly.
:)
My mom is switching over to a mac, I promised her that the only reason it's difficult is because it's so easy!
I too prefer Safari, loove the bookmarks feature, that all my fav pages are so easy to get to.
You can use IE on the mac, but it really should only be used for very good reasons, like some games I play only work on IE--but on macs, or at least mine, often after some amount of time, it closes for no reason no matter what you're doing.
I really don't know of too many differences between Safari and IE, except perhaps the way you see how they're loading
That's also what I love about Safari-it's much easier to find your favorite places. the whole Mac is easier than a PC-the only thing is just getting used to something different than you're used to for so many years!
I love the mail program :)
Me too-it shows you if you have mail and how many without having to open mail.
I do, Katygrace, I fear change! When I bought the computer, I was so angry at my PC that I wasn't scared, but I am SUCH a creature of habit.
I probably need someone to sit with me and explain all of the little nuances to me. I'm THAT inept.
SS -- you can stretch it. But it looks funny to me.
What do you all know about Camino?
I think I might post my question on the Apple.com forums, but I just have to find the proper category!
I just got my mac too, and whenever I use the school PC's I automatically go to the left of the window to "x" it out instead of the right. Looks like Mac is already starting to take over. I'm used to using the option button now, too, instead of CTRL.
*CAMINO SPAM*
I'm used to those little things already, too.
When I started using Camino last night, Aigoo, it made my computer make funny noises. Ever time I went to do something on it, it made these funny little clicks like the computer was "thinking" or something.
I think I figured out what's bothering me about Safari. Since it has a different way of telling you how the page is loading, it doesn't have that bar along the bottom that says "done." The window just sort of comes to an abrubt cutoff.
It does have a bar along the bottom you just have to turn it on. The default is off. Go to the View menu and select View Status Bar.
Thanks!
