Eleanor Parker, best known for playing Baroness Schrader in the 1965 film, 'The Sound of Music' has passed away at age 91. R.I.P. She was a wonderful actress.

Oh no. I love Eleanor Parker, especially in THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN ARM. Such a beautiful, talented, versatile and extremely underrated actress.

“Eleanor Parker was and is one of the most beautiful ladies I have ever known,” Plummer said in a statement. “Both as a person and as a beauty. I hardly believe the sad news for I was sure she was enchanted and would live forever.”

My father had a crush on her. He took me to see Sound of Music many. many times at an impressionable age as a result.

Possibly the most underrated really good actress, who ever lived. I'm sad that she was never included in any TSOM recollections. Hopefully, she declined and wasn't just ignored. Her contribution to the film is immense.

An underrated actress who should have received more acclaim -- she is excellent in CAGED (as a good girl gone bad in a women's prison), she was also very good in INTERRUPTED MELODY, THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN, THE NAKED JUNGLE, SCARAMOUCHE and A HOLE IN THE HEAD.

Even though she didn't win, I would say that three Oscar nominations is nothing to sneeze at in terms of acclaim.

I just put on the '65 movie again this evening and marveled at her performance as the Baroness. Her scene with Plummer on the balcony where they break off the engagement is so touching and downright classy.

I actually remarked how she was still alive, but hadn't been seen in public for years. She missed all the reunion activity (I assume she respectfully declined).

She also worked with a close friend of mine in a film in 1944. They played sisters in a Warners drama. I heard nothing but wonderful things about Eleanor's generosity as an actress and as a person. She even offered her guest room to my friend while they filmed, since she lived only a few blocks from the studio back then.

I also loved her three Oscar-nominated performances. A beautiful lady, inside and out. And she will always be the Baroness to me.

As she said to the captain ...

"Auf wiedersehen, darling."

"Jaws is the Citizen Kane of movies."

Very sad news.

I loved her in the Sound of Music. She also gave an affecting performance in Return to Peyton Place, though the film itself was pure ---but enjoyable ---hokum.

She was very proud that her own persona very rarely came through in her performances and considered herself to be a character actress. I wonder if her choice to not participate in the reunions was to avoid becoming any more "married" to the role than she already was? She seemed to lack the desire to have a "best known for" title proceeding her name.

Such a stunning beauty and wonderful actress.

Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f**ckin' perfect!

So sad, and I was a little creeped by the timing.

Loved her. I dont think it's so bad to be thought of every time someone mentions a harmonica. One of my favorite line reads ever...

How could I, lover of over-the-top 50's/60's melodrama have forgotten that Ms. Parker replaced Lana Turner as "Constance McKenzie" in 1962's RETURN TO PEYTON PLACE. I must now watch it again.
