My first idol. I couldn't wait for the Mickey Mouse Club to come on every day, and hold my breath until I found out if she was going to be featured that day. Couldn't get enough of her! aw. RIP
ESCAPADE IN FLORENCE isn't available on DVD. It was only released on VHS...and that's been out of print for decades. THE HORSEMASTERS is another one yet to see the light of day since it's VHS release in the 1980s. Maybe *now* Disney will hopefully release them in her honor.
For more than seven years I worked for a pretty large foundation in Los Angeles that gave out grant money to nonprofits. Among thousands donors and funds (including Paul Newman's salad dressing money, Elton John's AIDS Foundation), we handled the Annette Funicello Fund for Neurological Disorders, setting it up with her husband Glen Holt. I never met Annette, but her husband was terrific. A simple, strong, loving, and deeply devoted man. He was there for Annette every step of the way and acted on her behalf. Everyone who worked with him at our foundation spoke so highly of him.
At that time, she was just becoming incapacitated, and I remember thinking how glad I was that she had such a wonderful partner by her side.
My heart goes out to Annette and her family today.
Peace.
A great example of living a life that most of us would probably kill to have: a great career, a loving husband, a flawless legacy. That's how you do it.

RIP Annette.
The sweetness and innocence of this little Parisian ballet from a Mouseketeers in Paris segment in breathtaking.

To think she went from this to beach blanket movies and then to being a spokesperson for multiple-sclerosis research and treatment is nothing short of awe-inspiring.

Do not forget the peanut butter.
I tried getting through the ANNETTE serial episodes...I couldn't. I normally don't "grieve" celebrity deaths...but she has always had a special place in my heart. I feel the same way I did when Natalie Wood died. I wasn't kidding when my heart broke in pieces.
She's traded in her mouska-ears for a halo...
PLEASE WATCH THIS...You will see how truly BRAVE this woman was.

I love that serial. The song "Don't Jump to Conclusions" taught me not to jump to conclusions.
LOL @ Namo: Yes..."Don't Jump to Conclusions" was in the serial, written by the infamous Sherman Brothers.

I just watched episode one of the serial and got a little teary. I forgot Annette goes to live with her gay uncle (Richard Deacon) who is working on his philosophy thesis and whose maid is the goddess Mary Wickes.
Carlos, I am devestated after watching that! Her husband if an angel! I am totally in awe of the love!
Glen Holt is her guardian angel...he stuck by her through sickness and health. It was very hard to watch what MS did to her but he wanted people to see and know and learn and above all know how much he loved, cared and protected our beloved Annette.

But first, watch episode two of the Annette serial. It's so lesberotic it got me kind of shallow breathed.

"But I'd rather be the monkey's aunt".
"Dance Annette, dance Annette,I love to dance Annette" how I used to love twirling around the living room to this tune.My first crush-I am so sad, but the memories of that time now make me smile.
Carlos--I just watched--I can't type for the tears-but thank you.

I knew her cousin in college. He said many of their relations we upset she changed her name. It was originally spelled "Funiciello".
Well they would have been even more upset if she would have changed it to what she really wanted to change it to: ANNETTE TURNER.
Or, Annette Fisher.
