My two favorite songs that came from Rankin/Bass productions ...
"Mad Monster Party" - sung by the wonderful Ethel Ennis

... and "One Star In the Night" from The Little Drummer Boy - sung by the Vienna Boys Choir

I grew up in that generation well after the large majority of the specials had debuted and had become part of that gear up towards Christmas. One of my favorites though is one that I got to see the premiere of, The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus. I also remember the thrill when a couple years later I realized that it was based on a Baum book and that that version of Santa, and Knooks and Ryls, were the ones that showed up at Ozma's birthday party in The Road to Oz.
My two favorite numbers from that one; the very solemn and mysterious sounding opening and the song "Big Surprise."

Generations have been entertained by these creations, including me.
My favorite is easily Clarice's "There's Always Tomorrow".
"In Oz, the verb is douchifizzation." PRS
