I was lucky enough to meet her years ago. I was putting together a benefit and she was donating some signed record albums. Now, these albums were not one's you could get at any store. She recorded them herself and gave them out as gifts to only her close friends.
I remember going to her home to pick them up. It was one of the first times I'd ever seen a gate at anyones house before.
She was so lovely and quite a beautiful woman.
Talent like hers doesn't come along all that often. She will be missed

Such a talent. Who can forget her roles as the lovely Magnolia or Kate the Shrew? RIP

RIP
She was as lovely as she was talented. And such a beauty. Frequent co-star Howard Keel once called her the most beautiful woman ever filmed.

Posted: 2/18/10 at 7:31pmWhy did you call her that? I was never, ever a fan of her singing, but she was a lovely person.

It was the vibrato...

But I am mightily sorry now. I called her that for 30 years or so.
I feel like a heel.

I will forgive you, much like you and Lorna have forgiven me for those jokes I used to post about her.

Enough! Enough of the vibrato cracks. Make it a celebration. Pour yourself a glass of wine and watch "Showboat". Or get really drunk and sing along with this...
