Wow...rents in this city are just...

Oh no, I love that place so much. I miss my original t-shirt with the guy with the clone mustache. I will miss the dog bowl outside that is specifically for dogs only.
I will always cherish the memory of Nathan Lane (who many of us insider types used to call "Joey" because we're showbiz that way) shoving me out of the way, one crowded Friday night. In his defense he was quite short.
In good news, the SF Eagle reopened! I heard wait time was up to an hour to get inside yesterday for their Sunday beer bust.
It sucks when rent forces establishments to close, but what can ya do? New owners have also bought Marlena's in San Francisco and their last day was yesterday. I've heard mixed rumors about what'll happen next. It's supposed to stay a gay bar, but we'll see.
RIP Rawhide.
What was Joey shoving you out of the way to get to?

I think I just stepped in Joey's path as he was headed toward the door, it had suddenly gotten crowded and his sight lines were probably destroyed. I had my back to him and shifted a little to my left and, well, sometimes a Smurf doesn't know his own strength when he has one thing on his mind, gettin' the hell outta there. This was pre-Producers. Post-Mouse Hunt.
Sight lines of what? There's really nothing to see there..just a pool table, a bar, a tiny restroom and a guy on a box.
Oh...it must've been the guy on the box.

This was before guys on boxes. Where he was standing before the crowds came in you could people watch. Once it got crowded, it was hard to see, even for people of normal height.

I bet it will become a Starbucks. No wait, a nail salon. NO wait, I change my mind...it will become a cupcake store.

I don't think anybody can sell 27,000 dollars worth of cupcakes a month. How about a Duane Reade? A bank?
A Duane Reade...we don't have enough of those.
Everything in this city will become a Duane Reade, a bank or a Dunkin Donuts. It's a fact.

I've never been inside but it looks too small to be a Duane Reade or a bank. I'll go with a combination Dunkin' Donuts/Baskin Robbins. (Although with Nanny Bloomberg's new diet restrictions, I think Dunkin' Donuts will lessen their presence in NYC).
Yes it's really too small to be a Duane Reade. They could make it into an ATM only banking facility or a Dunkin' Donuts/Baskin Robbins combo.
Is this the same Rawhide I knew in the 1970s? What a shame!

Yes, Gaveston, the same. Very sad. I live in the neighborhood and will miss just heading in for a quick drink or meeting friends in a place so relaxed, friendly and funky.
Still a nice neighborhood, henrik. One of my closest friends lived around the corner from the Rawhide until he retired to Palm Springs. Let me know when you're ready to move...
I've never been inside but
If I had a nickel for every time THAT'S been said about a gay bar...
Whatever they turn it into I hope it smells better.

I'm suprised they were able to pay the rent at all. Anytime I went in there, usually on a weekend, there were only 10 to 15 people in there. The doorman would occasionally walk around making sure the customers were drinking and yell at them if they had a empty drink.
