A post by sabrelady in another thread made me wonder what everyone else might be reading. I just finished THE LITTLE FRIEND by Donna Tartt and am getting ready to reread Toni Morrison's TAR BABY. Anyone have any recommendations?

Over the summer I read Molto Agitato: The Mayhem Behind the Music at the Metropolitan Opera by Johanna Fiedler. It was like The Glamorous Life but set in the Met. So malicious. So wonderful. I'm currently waiting for my copy of Covent Garden: The Untold Story.

I'm in the middle of Geoff Dyer's Out of Sheer Rage: Wrestling with DH Lawrence and am almost done with Babycakes, the fourth installment of Maupin's Tales of the City series. I got a lot of plays for Christmas, most of which I read on the train ride home and the flight to and from Moscow. Also finished Clinging to the Wreckage a few weeks ago.

But soon I'm going to have to buckle down and start reading my school books.

I have read before I go to sleep most every night since I was 13. I am an avid mystery fan. I also like the Ann Rice, Stephen King and Ann Perry novels. DP you sure like those iguanas.

Well someone's going to say it, so I might as well be the first - The DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. For those who haven't read them, they're not the greatest masterpieces ever, but they are fast and stimulating reads...

I'm currently reading Wicked and finding it painful to get through. It just started to pick up and I just reached the half way point.

I'm also reading Crime and Punishment - good stuff if you're in the mood for it.

The Book Of Dreams By Sylvia Brown
Disney; The Mouse Betrayed
and Me And My Shadows by Lorna Luft...I like them all so far especially the Disney one.

anything by Bill Bryson. he is a non-fiction writer but his books are some of the wittiest and most entertaining i have ever read. the first book you should read of his, should you choose to, is "I'm a Stranger Here Myself".

Wicked is also a great read
I'm a big fan of "The Wheel of Time" series, by Robert Jordan, but hey, i'm alowed to be geekish once in a while.

George Orwell's stuff is always good. Right now I'm reading The essential Checkhov and The Rape of Nanking, the lost holocaust, both of which are really good. for more recent stuff try In Her Shoes, The Da Vinci Code, One Pill Makes You Smaller, and the Secret Lives of Bees. I read these books over the past few weeks, and loved them!

Boy, it's been a while since I read a "Good" book. Lately I've been in the mood for quick, light reads so it's been John Grisham and Dan Brown.

Here are some books that I have read over the past year or two and would recommend:

The Hours...you get so much more out of the book than the movie

Mary Called Magdaline by Margaret George who also wrote a couple of other books I loved, The Memoirs of Cleopatra and The Autobiography of Henry VIII

A few that have been around for a while and are worth reading if you haven't already;
The Poisonwood Bible
The Rapture of Caanan
The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay
The Blind Assasign.

Rereading old classics is always fun. In the past couple of years I've reread some novels that I haven't read in years and was fascinated to see the difference in the way I perceived things with a more adult mind. Some of my favorite classics;

To Kill A Mockingbird
The Great Gatsby
In Cold Blood (I love Truman Capote)
The Grapes Of Wrath
