I just want to know who that girl on her left is. It's the great mystery of our age.

I wish people would forget about this and leave our ears open for such lyrical brilliance as "Rah rah ah ah ah. Roma roma ma. Gaga ooh la la."

She's a millionaire now. Nice work, America!

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

If it mitigates the fact that 4Chan was planning to harass the f*ck out of her, I say good for her. The song is abysmal, but it's one thing to mock it on a website and another to plot to harass her at school and at home because of it.

Also, roma roma ma.

If anyone thinks selling 2 million singles makes someone a millionaire, they haven't been following the music business much. Artists used to end up with like $.37 for every full CD sold and from that they had to pay managers, publicists, etc. I have no idea how much one generates from iTunes sales, but I can guarantee it's not half.

Not even under the most messed up Allan Klein-type deal were artists making thirty-seven cents a CD. Most artists got a couple bucks per disc, with the ones with clout able to command 3 or 4. There is a lot less overhead with a download, however so I'd guess an artist should be able to claim about a quarter for each song they sell.

She is a creature of her record label, apparently, so I'd guess they do take a pretty good bite out of that as label, manager, publisher and songwriter (?).

Friday Sequel 'Saturday'

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

They can use that video as a good reason to cut arts funding for schools, you know.

Forbes' back-of-the-envelope accounting went like this. First, it tallied up revenue from all of those millions of YouTube views. YouTube, owned by Google, grants artists 68 percent of the proceeds earned from advertising on the site through its Partner Program. Forbes figured YouTube makes about $1 per 1,000 page views. Thus, "Friday's" 30 million page views (at the time: It's now up to 43 million) implied $30,000 in revenue, with a cut of $20,000 or so for Black. Then, it added in the earnings from downloads of the new hit single. Forbes initially reported that the song racked up 2 million purchases on iTunes. If iTunes pays out 70 cents per download, and Black keeps all of the proceeds, it makes her a tween millionaire.
But there are a few problems with this accounting. First, the numbers. As for downloads, Billboard reports that "Friday" has sold just 37,000 copies, meaning the song has earned about $26,000. And as for YouTube plays, the number could be lower. Rates depend not just on page views, but also on how many people click on the advertisements. Thus, the song and video have earned perhaps $40,000 and counting—hardly chump change, but hardly $1 million either.

Did Rebecca Black really make $1 million from "Friday"?

From a songwriting perspective alone, "Bad Romance" is lightyears ahead of "Friday".

And for the record, Gaga had not seen the video when she made that comment.

So she passed judgement on it without seeing it. She'd be a natural on BWW!
