re: Red Sox Are Going To Win the World Series...

I've been a Sox fan my whole life and for some reason I almost don't want them to win the World Series cuz it would be like "well, whats there to hope for now?" but hey, we got the team to do it and if it happens I won't complain.

Go Sox!

Hey New England still has the Patriots.

Are you kidding me? Have you SEEN the Cardinals record? They are by far the best team out there. They are going to the series, most likely against Boston, and they're going to kick their a*ses!

CARDINALS baby.

Look at their starting rotation. Their bullpen. Their OFFENSE. Their DEFENSE.

I'm a diehard Yankees / Athletics fan and I'd bank my money on St. Louis, not a team that features a homeboy of Jesus, a comatose manager, and a curse since 1918.

But when did New Hampshire become--Such a backward wasteland of seatbelt hating crazies?...I mean, only 40 people actually live there. The others are just visitors who come for the tax-free liquor and three inches of novelty coastline. John Hodgeman on The Daily Show (1-30-07)

Once again I state, "there is NO such thing as a curse. Sadly many baseball and other athletes are very superstitious, and believe there's a curse" So it just keeps on perpetuating itself.
That said my heart has been broken each fall, (I was born in April of '63) I have no grand delusions but it would be nice.

Even my father-in-law who is a diehard Yankees fan even says it is time for the Red Sox to win (just once though!)

re: red sox need an exorcist and then some

As Plum said in a related thread called YANKEES, there is no curse - it's just a big marketing and pr hook that has grown each year as the Sox manage to find yet another way to lose the Big One. But the aura of the Bambino sure makes the rivalry more fun, don't you think? Bets get made, beers get bought, old stories get retold, and crowds go wild. It all adds to the juice. I'll bet the players feel it, too. I mean, the benches did clear in the last series at Fenway.

Well, gotta go check on the latest scores.
