Cyd Charisse still had it in 1989. Fabulous dancer

I'm not sure what my favorite part of this is- the dancing stars and the dancing tables and chairs, Alice Faye almost falling over, or the completely stone faced Robert Downey Jnr.
It just has to be an Alan Carr production!

I always wanted to be a Dancing Table, one of the ones up the back.

Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian

Lily: "And just think a million and a half people just watched that." LOL, exactly.

Didn't Disney file a lawsuit or something for them using Snow White without permission?

That little production number (well, along with the entire disastrous and gaudy show, which featured CHER giving out Best Picture) almost single-handedly took down the Academy Awards. Allan Carr lived out the rest of his life in seclusion and shame (although Ronald Reagan called his Awards the "best show he'd ever seen"), while Hollywood veteran Gil Cates led a comission to determine what exactly was wrong with the Oscars and how to fix it. One of the most significant reforms he enforced was actually paying the producer of the show, a move he greatly benefitted from when he himself was tapped to produce the awards the very next year (he later said that if he knew he would get the job, he "would have asked for more money"). Cates has produced the awards fourteen times since then, most recently the 80th awards in 2008 with Jon Stewart. He most notably took a break after the almost equally disastrous David Letterman show in 1995, which not only included the "Uma, Oprah" fiasco but a spinning dog that had nothing to do with film, and a car being raffled off, onstage, to Sally Field.

Read Steve Pond's excellent "The Big Show" for more information on this and 12 other Oscar shows.

Stockard, I agree. But I miss the days of those awful production numbers. At least there was something to laugh at. Now the oscars are so boring!

"Whenever you're down in the dumps, try putting on Judy's red pumps"

Are you aware that Jerry Herman wrote that lyric?

Do you even know who Jerry Herman is? Updated On: 5/31/09 at 01:19 PM

So what if Jerry Herman wrote it. It's still a stupid lyric.

I think it was an attempt to give Lily her shoe. He should have left it there

Thanks for the acid flash black. I forgot how truly bad it was.
