Posted: 1/24/12 at 4:16pmScotch Eggs? One of my friends from FB just posted that she had a Scotch Egg today at a restaurant near my mom's. Next time I go there I'm totally gonna go get one. Anyway, it just made me remember our Scotch Egg thread.

Oh God, that's the last thing I should be reminded of.
They're so good!

Posted: 1/24/12 at 4:49pmThat was me! I use a very simple recipe, but I love them SO MUCH! They are super easy to make. Serve with some stone ground mustard on the side. I haven't made them in ages, so I'm delighted the subject came up again.

In searching for the original thread, I didn't realize how often it ended up being referenced. I started a cult trend! LOL But here it is...

Posted: 1/24/12 at 4:56pmI was looking at a restaurant menu on open table that offered Scotch egg as an appetizer. I think I can actually eat them on this low-carb diet I'm on.

Hmm... is there a gluten free recipe?

Posted: 1/24/12 at 5:55pmCATS - You can probably substitute crushed potato chips for the bread crumbs and use gluten-free sausage.

Posted: 1/24/12 at 5:58pmPotato chips?!? I've never heard of anyone doing that. I suppose I could just crush some of my gf bread, but you never know how a substitution will turn out. I've had some disasters in the past.

Posted: 1/24/12 at 6:02pmCrushed potato chips work great (especially Ruffles) as a crunchy coating. Very popular with fried chicken recipes. I've also used crushed Rosemary & Olive Oil Triscuits. Delish!
