"They're gonna recognise my eyes, my hair, my teeth, my boobs, my nose."
Well, not anymore.
Where did Bridget Jones go?
Wow.
I honestly would NOT have recognized her.

That's not Renee, it's Glenn Close's younger sister. Oh...my...
Her make-up artist should be fired. That pale lipstick look doesn't suit her.
I'm intrigued by this. And let's be fair, that photo posted above is probably the worst of the batch. If you look at the others, like this one -
You can "kind of" see it's Renee. But the thing is, she looks GREAT. It's not like looking at bad plastic surgery photos of someone who isn't recognizable anymore. I mean, if she's had work done, she's had GOOD work done.
It's just utterly bizarre.....
She does look good, but like when Jennifer Grey got her nose job, she removed her uniqueness in a sea of blonde actresses.
Omg!
She's turned into Cheno.
I agree with Jordan, she looks good but just not like Renee.
If she walked down the red carpet, I just don't see how any of of the paps would have known "that's Renee".
Quite bizarre!
Aside from whatever minor work has been done, the biggest change is how she's using the muscles in her face.
The pout and squint are gone. That "just sucked a lemon" expression of hers was something that became both a trademark and a joke.
In addition to any injections or minor tweaks, she's worked with someone who's an expert in facial toning and exercise.
If she pouted and squinted in those photos she'd look a whole lot like the old Renee.
I agree. Whatever she's doing it works.

I knew a lot of guys who had crushes on her because of her approachable, girl next door look. That's gone now but at the end of the day, what matters is how she feels about herself. If she's happy with how she looks now, then more power to her.
Perfectly put Wildcard.
I miss her unique look, but if she's happy that's all that matters.
Personally I think she looks a bit sickly now.

I'm just shocked and/or impressed that her lips seem relatively untouched. Usually those are the first thing that women mess with.
I think she just got an eyelid lift, everything else looks the same.
I just think it's unfortunate that such a beautiful woman felt the need to do that to her face. It's had quite the opposite effect and aged her a bit. Whatever makes you happy, though.
How Should You Laugh at Renee Zelweger Today?

Oh come off it, Borstal. I'm all for calling out misogyny, bias against women, unfair beauty standards etc. but that's not what this one is about. She looks dramatically different. And not in that "oooh, girl, you spent way too much time at Dr. Schwartz's" or "oooh, girl, you old now!" way, but as in "holy ****, is that a different person?" way.
She doesn't look bad, but I miss her old face. I will choose to believe this is all some elaborate hoax and she paid some random woman off the street to pretend to be her during the Women In Hollywood Awards, just to make some sort of social statement.

All of this is SO complicated and calls up so many contradictory impulses I find it really exasperating. And all of the contradictory impulses can be true and STILL contradictory. I'm just finding it hard to sit patiently with them and tell myself the world is a complicated place.
I've ALWAYS been uncomfortable on these boards when people, especially women, praise somebody like Madonna for "looking great" "at her age" because it's all surgically enhanced. Anyway, I'm not going to go down the rabbit hole, but this buzz feed piece gets at many of the awful ways this Renee situation has gotten me down today.
What’s Really Behind The Ridicule Of Renée Zellweger’s Face
The funny thing is that the more I look at these images today, the more she's just starting to look like the same ol' Zellweger.
All this Femo-blog hand-wringing is ridiculous. Are there people saying crass and awful things about plastic surgery and about unrealistic expectations on aging when it comes to this discussion? Sure. But, AGAIN, the reason we're all fascinated in this particular case is not because she looks older (heaven forbid!) or that she looks like she had too much surgery (if anything, she looks more "natural" now than she did at the height of her fame), but because she looks like a DIFFERENT HUMAN BEING. How is this so difficult for people to grasp?

I haven't really seen much in the way of negative criticism. I think most agree that she looks great. She moved away from the baby face that she had. It's more that it wasn't at all gradual. She just suddenly looks mature and more polished than she has in the past. It's a little shocking.
