I have seen a lot of things that said that it's "the exact same coat!" It's obviously not. The BM (heh) one is fur lined. Perry's is corduroy. It's still funny.

I think it is more the irony of the fact here is a guy who hates 'Queers' and he is wearing an identical/similar jacket from what has become a classic gay film.

I think it says a lot about Perry who insults all the gay men and women serving in our military. He is okay with the heterosexual ones, but the gay ones are the ones he has issues with. Yet he sits here and insults them while they risk their lives everyday.

I would like to see a video response made and hear gay soldiers and their families comment on this.

Of which there are hundreds of designs of. It's not ironic. Carhartt's only been making them for 150 years. They're quite common. It's not the same material. It's not the same design. It doesn't even have the same collar. Not to mention that every use of this joke has to obscure the Brokeback picture to not show that it's corduroy.

Make fun of the guy's stupidity not the "If you blur the picture and squint your eyes you may end up seeing resemblance to that that coat from Brokeback Mountain movie. You get it!? Well, I did say similar (which they are) I do agree though. I think people should focus on his anti gay message and not his attire,which is a stretch.

Well, you got us there. Let's try this angle:

What kind of jacket is Rick Perry wearing? What kind of jacket did effete former Cosmopolitan magazine nudie boy Scott Brown wear when he was trying to portray himself as a manly every dude in his campaign for Senate? What kind of jacket did a straight director put a straight actor in a movie about gay cowboys whose entire identity hinged on their perceived manliness?

What makes it funny is that Rick Perry is wearing it to appear all butch and straight while he makes incongruous statements about homosexuals and prayer in schools. The problem is, we've already seen the deconstruction of the manliness of his jacket. He might as well have been switching from cop uniform, to construction worker, to cop, to leatherman, to soldier, to cowboy every few seconds.
