Hmmm...that can be taken so many ways...

I had to laugh at his answer:
And are you enjoying LA?
Beverly Hills is too intimidating. Everyone’s got lovely teeth, so you don’t want to smile. Everyone’s ripped, so you start working out at 4 in the morning and eating egg white omelets. I didn’t even know what that was and I’ve had three. My buns are killing.

Posted: 2/11/13 at 5:41pmHe's a cutie. I've obviously been missing out. I've never watched this show. Am I in danger from having my gay card revoked for admitting that?

joey, this is my first season watching ABBEY on the air (I got a DVD of Seasons 1 and 2 for Christmas). Do you know when they say next week is the "season finale", does that include a "Christmas special"?
(I almost didn't watch the "Christmas special" of Season 2, assuming it was some sort of treacly holiday DVD extra. I had no idea it was a full-length movie!)

Posted: 2/11/13 at 5:54pmYes, Carlos, you are in great peril. But you can buy Seasons 1 and 2 together on DVD for less than $25. That won't catch you up completely, but it'll be a start.

Thank you, ArtMan. I found the other, more appropriate thread, and asked the question there as well. I'll repeat your answer.
Season 3 seems to be ending much too early, but I suppose quite a bit has happened!

Carlos! Thank you! I'm not the only one who has never seen this.

Posted: 2/11/13 at 6:04pmWynbish, you have to watch it. I'm not one for continuing shows, anymore. But since the seasons are so short, its not that much of a commitment. I started watching in Season 3. Got hooked. Had to go back and watch Seasons 1 and 2, while watching 3.

Wynbush, ArtMan is right. I generally avoid anything "everyone is watching". I still haven't seen an episode of THE SOPRANOS. (I know, I know.)
But for some reason I relented on DOWNTON and cannot stop watching. It is simultaneously more enlightening than most broadcast TV and as addictive as a soap opera.

Usually, I'm not like that, but with never seeing this or any Harry Potter movie all the way through, I'm slowly becoming like that. I think, if I do start Downton, it'll be after graduation in May.

Posted: 2/11/13 at 6:16pmGaveston, it feels short season but 1st episode here was UK's episode 1 & 2, and also last night's episode was 7 & 8. Altogether 8 regular episodes plus Christmas Special. At least we don't have to few months for CS here in US.

GavestonPS, yes, the season finale is the so-called Christmas episode, but unlike Season 2's Christmas special it doesn't take place during Christmastime. It's only called the "Christmas special" because it aired around Christmas in the UK.
That said, I'm glad Rob's very appreciative of the show and what new experiences it's brought him... (*aside* unlike some slags I could mention.) He seems to be really enjoying himself and taking it in stride. I hope this opens new doors for him.

Wynbish et al., I feel I may have misrepresented myself. As a rule I'm really not a snob about popular culture.
There's just something about being told I MUST watch/read/listen to something because EVERYONE is doing it that inspires a certain contrariness in me. No doubt the loss is mine, because on occasions when I finally get around to a "Must" (Puzo's THE GODFATHER, for instance, which everyone was reading when I was in high school), I almost always think, "Oh! No wonder everyone was gushing so!"
On that note, Wynbish, I gave up on the Harry Potter movies after a couple, but I highly recommend all seven books!

Posted: 2/11/13 at 6:53pmThanks to all for the explanation of the episodes. I was so engrossed last night I didn't realize 2 hours had passed! I don't know WHY I suddenly care about the modernization of Edwardian agriculture, but I do!

Posted: 2/11/13 at 10:14pmDon't let me mislead you, Carlos, I was only making a joke. The show is NOT about farming, but it is about all levels of society before and after WWI.
