Posted: 10/27/12 at 3:26pmI LOVE Roseanne and have the full box set and watch them all each year, it's the best sitcom ever with one of the best casts ever. I've never found one that comes close to its brilliance. I will be watching all the Halloween ones on Halloween night

Posted: 10/27/12 at 4:14pmI adored it in first run, thought it jumped the shark in the wealthy seasons, but she somehow redeemed it all with the series finale. In the years since I thought some of the praise may have been too hyperbolic, but watching all these scare-a-thon episodes reminds me of that a consistency of vision the show had and how great the cast was. So, yeah, I think I agree it was one of the best sitcoms ever.

Posted: 10/27/12 at 4:20pmThe last season was and will always be a shame but as Namo said, the last 5 minutes made up for everything as one of the great finales in TV history. And I've said many times that I do consider it the greatest sitcom ever an the only one to ever truly portray the modern day blue collar American family.

I always believed Roseanne was one of the truly great American sitcoms and deserves a place in the hall of fame. It was a landmark series that was not only funny and perfectly cast, but consistently pushing the envelope in the representation of American families, carrying the torch passed on from All in the Family. From what I remember about the final season, Roseanne was given the heads-up that it would be the end and she decided to run with it as a blue-collar fantasy as the ultimate series sendoff and a middle finger to the studio that decided to pull the plug. Watching the reruns is very bittersweet for me because it reminds me how brilliant the show was and it was the last series I watched that truly made me excited every week to see what was in store. I think the only "lull" in the entire run was the beauty shop period (though it included one of the most poignant episodes involving Mother's Day). But you always knew Halloween was going to be fun and outrageous.
My favorite episode is still the PMS episode. Always makes me laugh whenever I see it. Oh, and I recognized Natalie West (Crystal from Roseanne) in the film Nate and Margaret recently and really loved her performance. Check it out.
Since the series, I loved seeing Laurie Metcalf and Estelle Parsons on stage as well as running into Sandra Bernhard and her girlfriend in London (though I totally made a fool out of myself) and they were so sweet and kind.

I agree the final season was a let down but yes the season finale and especially the ending was incredible, i cried my eyes out, still do when i watch it again.
I see sitcoms today and wish they could have an ounce of the spark and creativity this show had, representing such a broad part of society and with so much heart in the show as well.
My face episode is the one where they find what they think is David's pot, only for it to be there own. The moment of Jackie, Roseanne and Tom stoned in the bathroom is non stop laugh out loud funny, especially Jackie's lines

Posted: 10/28/12 at 10:03pmI always wondered if some of the content from the lotto season was carried over from Roseanne's original intentions around the time to make an American Ab Fab.

Roseanne took the helm well before the final season and, while misguided, still has some fun stuff. I love the eppie with the ab fab girls, and the pampered to apulp ep. Few sitcoms have the re-wathability of Rosanne. It's always on my dvr. The Halloween shows are the best.
And no sitcom has made me laugh and cry like the episode when Rosie's dad died. Rosie and Laurie's best stuff.

Her final scene with his casket is one of my favorite scenes in sitcom history...so real and honest. Her acting was so underrated.
And the phone call to Auntie Barbara?! Comedy gold!

"Skeleton in the Closet" was that episode's name, one of the most insane of the Halloween episodes. Alec was the hairdresser who was a friend of Fred, Jackie's then husband, which led to Roseanne to have suspicions about Fred's sexuality.
Darlene was always my favorite. Sara Gilbert got nominated for an Emmy once but it was pretty clear in the early seasons that she was on par with adult actors and I think she should have gotten more nominations, even an Emmy for her work- though it is stiff competition being on the same show with Laurie Metcalfe.
