re: ruth's chris steakhouse

ck, have you ever had the Godiva chocolate cake at Mortons? You might change your mind...

Although, I happen to agree that S&W is tops. It's a frequent business place. And the Grill is a great place to meet for drinks after work. James Brady (of Ad Age fame) can frequently be found gracing the end of the bar...picking up all the scoop for his column.

Tiffy: Daniel Boulud has THREE restaurants in the city... db bistro moderne has the amazing foie gras and short ribs burger. Daniel is a heavenly temple of food. And Cafe Boulud is beyond awesome...

Le Cirque was gastronomically wonderful, but the decor (think high concept Cirque de Soleil) and the totally formal service, was bizarre...

re: ruth's chris steakhouse

I'm sorry people but the following steak restaurants are CHAINS are are therefore exempt from consideration:

Ruth's Chris
Morton's
The Palm
Smith and Wollensky

You might enjoy a steak there, but it's not a one-of-a-kind gastronomic experience.

And Cookie--what about Chanterelle? Can we take Tiff there?

re: ruth's chris steakhouse

J'aime Chanterelle!

Dylan Prime serves a very excellent steak, as does The Strip House.

Have yet to try BLT Steak, though...

re: ruth's chris steakhouse

I don't think Cookie ever eats at home.

PalJoey, if you pick up the tab, you can take Tiff anywhere! *wiggles eyebrows lasciviously*

City Crab for Shrimp Cocktail
Oceana
Manhattan Ocean Club
City Lobster

Corine, so does Nobu live up to the hype? Is Blue Fin the one with the glass exterior in Times Square? And slight thread jack - what was that good Chinese restaurant you mentioned to me a while ago? Is it in Chinatown or midtown?

black cod in sweet miso
tuna carpaccio
yellowtail jalapeno sashimi

*triple sigh*

re: ruth's chris steakhouse

OH. I love the black cod in miso.
Dim Sum in chinatown is a treat.
Hop Kee
Wo Hop
Mandarin has incredible shrimp dumplings
Peking Duck House
My favorite expensive date or expense account chinese is Shun Lee Palace on the East Side or Shun Lee West in Lincoln Center.
Just not for Dim Sum. They have mediocre dim sum. Chinatown blows it away and is inexpensive and delicious.

re: ruth's chris steakhouse

Ugh I thought the food was awful!! Especially for the price!

re: ruth's chris steakhouse

What was awful?
Tiff I think I said Korean Palace.
Love that place.
Blue Fin is on 47th and yes that is the place.
I love the sushi. Especially the shrimp rolls.
Shrimp is my favorite if you can't tell.
This shrimp loves SHRIMP.

So many people have overlooked that wonderful experience that is Tad's Steakhouse. So what if the decor is 1970. So what if the meat is from the cow's tail. So what if the butter on the baked potato tastes like shortening. It's still a unique experience. re: ruth's chris steakhouse
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

I stand by my Old Homestead statement. Luger's is also pretty orgasmic...and believe it or not, they do you quite nicely at El Quijote in the Chelsea Hotel.

EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! Regarding Tads.
I love El Quitote for Lobster and Paella!

But Tads is like eating leather. And I am sure my boots would taste better. re: ruth's chris steakhouse

re: ruth's chris steakhouse

I really want to try this place. Never heard of it until a month or so ago and the way my friend described it, had me salivating.
I hung out with Cheyenne Jackson in his dressing room waayyyyyy before he tickled D2.
