I saw Walk the Line -- I thought Reese Witherspoon was good - not great. I don't understand where the accolades are coming from. I haven't seen anything more than clips from Transamerica and I'm blown away by what Felicity Huffman did in that movie. I think she definitely should get best actress (just based on what I know of her in that role)
Most of the time the Golden Globes tell you much about the SAG's. Personally I am a huge movie buff for my age (im 15.) I'm sure that BBM will win many.
BBM--Best Picture and Michelle Williams will win
Walk the Line--Joaquine Phoenix
* = Will win
+ = Should win
? = WTF were they nominated?

The Globes are a decent indicator as far as the big prizes are concerned. But especially in the supporting performances, they are almost always useless.
And Broadway86: You marked two for Best Supporting Female Actor. Amy or Michelle?
My choice would be Amy Adams, but Michelle Williams is a close 2nd. I didn't have the heart to suggest that Williams didn't deserve it, should she win. Updated On: 1/28/06 at 01:44 AM
I have seen all the movies nominated but Junebug. I really think this year was so groundbreaking with Good Night and Good Luck, Brokeback Mountain, The Constant Gardner, Syriana, Crash and Transamerica. It really is brillant that all these small emotion driven films are getting the praise so it really just comes down to opinion.

I like broadway86's theory that since Heath winning is unlikely, the SAG and Academy may choose to award his counterparts. Nice idea. I'm a bit skeptical about Jake taking home the trophy this Sunday, but I am more confident in Michelle, though.

Don't discount "Crash" for best cast- it is a large ensemble piece and frankly all the performers were good. Remember who the voters are- ACTORS!
I'm going with Crash for ensemble, Joaquin for Walk the Line, Felicity in Transamerica, Matt Dillon for Crash, and I haven't seen most of the females for supporting.
Ensemble - BBM
Actor - Hoffman
Actress - Witherspoon
Sup. Actor - Gyllenhaal
Sup. Actress - Weisz

I congratulate the producers of BBM and Constant Gardener for being clever enough to get Gyllenhaal ahd Weisz into supporting categories when they clearly played leading roles.
BEST ENSEMBLE: SAG usually awards the Best Ensemble award to films with truly large ensembles, regardless of performance quality. So I'm going to have to say CRASH is going to get this one. (Though I wouldn't be surprised if BBM took it.)
BEST ACTOR: Hoffman.
BEST ACTRESS: Reese Witherspoon has this in the bag.
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: I'm going to say George Clooney, but I hope Jake comes on top.
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Rachel Weisz currently has the momentum.
Jake has got it...i'm sorry as a die hard jake fan i have been waiting and hoping for this night to be as good as i want it to be. Jon I disagree that Jake is leading....Heath has a lot more screentime and a majort of Jack's Story is a mystery...anyways I don't think Clooney will get it simply b/c the competition with the rest of them is soo hard to call...you put Jake in the mix i think that the other votes will cancel out...now this is just wishful thinking but hopefully sunday night i will be one happy guy and Jake AND Michelle take home their well deserved Awards. Michelle ecspecailly since she was ROBBED of a golden globe.
Best Ensemble: I think Crash will take it.
Best Actor: Hoffman. I can't imagine anything else happening.
Best Actress: I know Reese is very popular, but I still think it's gonna go to Huffman.
Best Supporting Actor: Unfortunately, I think this award will go to Clooney, it's a very big Clooney year.
Best Supporting Actress: I think Weisz will get it, though I wouldn't be surprised if Amy Adams took it.
Crash
Hoffman
Witherspoon
Weitz
and the one wild card: Jake G.
If Jake loses, I predict Giamatti, not Clooney. There's consensus that Giamatti has been 'robbed' for AMERICAN SPLENDOR and SIDEWAYS, so attn must be paid.
Although it may be thought that Giamatti will be rewarded enough being nominated, particularly since he will get his first Oscar nod, FINALLY. The SAG award may go to him but he won't win the Oscar. Clooney may take it, too... I feel like the Brokeback momentum is waning.
I hope Rachel Weisz gets it. I voted for her. She was truly exceptional in the film.
"BEST ENSEMBLE: SAG usually awards the Best Ensemble award to films with truly large ensembles, regardless of performance quality. So I'm going to have to say CRASH is going to get this one. (Though I wouldn't be surprised if BBM took it.)"
BlueWizard, the winner of Best Ensemble last year was one that included only 4 actors, SIDEWAYS.
Don't discount BROKEBACK for Best Ensemble.
As for Best Actor, I'm really still counting on Heath. But we shall see.
I'll do picture and film acting!
Picture, although I think SAG calls it Ensemble Cast
Brokeback Mountain. However if it Ensemble Cast then Crash should win for the same reason that Sideways won last year.
Actor:
Phillip Seymour Hoffman
Actress:
Felicity Huffman. It seems like Reese Witherspoon has a lot of support here......Maybe it's just that you think she will win, but I stand by Huffman!
Supporting Actor:
George Clooney
Supporting Actress:
Rachel Weisz
******What I was kinda unsure of I went with the globes, but I WANT SOME SURPRISES, particularly in the Supporting Category!
Note to all readers: I was okay with all the nominations but 1(even though I haven't seen all the movies :)
That was Don Cheadle for Crash, which I own. He is good, like MUCH of the cast and he is an actor's actor. However, I feel there are other guys in the film that could have been nominated before he was, Terrence Howard is the best choice for an example.
Yeah, ya know, in the TV category, Felicity Huffman was the ONLY Desperate Housewife nominated. They obviously have a thing for this woman. Assuming MLP takes the Best Actress in a Comedy Series Award, I say they're going to want to give Felicity something. She's winning for Trans. Step aside, Reese, darling.
As a seperate note- when do the Writers Guild give their awards? That will be the bellweather as to who gets what for screenplay- same voting group.
February 4. (I voted in that one.)
Jake jake JAKE DAMMIT!!!!!
