I'll let you know once I get in the writer's room.

The opening Debate skit sucked....
Debbie Down was HILARIOUS!
I'm still not sure how I feel about Amy Poehler on Weekend Update... I love Amy, but I just don't see it... COME BACK JIMMY!!!!!!

I watched the first few minutes, and then watched Kiss Me Kate on PBS.
Much more worthwhile.
Oh, and I flipped back when Ben was doing his lame hip hop wedding sketch, and immediately flipped back.

Don't tell me I missed Kiss Me Kate again! I will never get to see this taping, will I?
Anyway, glad to hear SNL sucked, cause I forgot to watch it.

the glory days were late '80s and mid-90s. then it became more focussed on shameless celebrity mugging/plugging and less about keeping it edgy. i'll be watching it in 20 minutes though on the west coast...
...whos on next wk?

Posted: 10/3/04 at 2:43amagreed! there was so much focus on the standout stars like chris farley and adam sandler. but the glory days officially ended for me when there was no more Phil Hartman or Kevin Nealon. I believe the bewildering Chris Elliott year was the end of the era. and I'm the biggest Chris Elliott fan you'll meet! got every episode of Get A Life on VHS.

Wow. I'm watching Debbie Downer right now. It's actually uncomfortable to watch because it's so bad and you can tell the actors feel the same way. ::cringe::
Please tell me it gets better!

the glory days were late '80s and mid-90s.
while there were some memorable times during that period, i think that snl's definitive "glory days" were seasons 1-5. the collective talent of the core cast from that period has never been matched in an ensemble since. there have been stars that shone as brightly, but never a cast as a whole that from top to bottom was just a buncha ringers.

I was so happy to see Rob Riggle as a featured player. He is HILARIOUS at Assssscat and rocks out with Respecto. UBCT in the house, yo.
But yeah, the episode pretty much sucked. Debbie Downer bit the big one. I was very disappointed.
I'm VERY happy Amy is the new cohost for WU, though. She will kick some bootay. Jimmy Fallon annoyed the crap out of me... he was just way too amused by himself.

The highlight of the show was James Gandolfini on WU! Loved it.
Has anyone here ever camped out for SNL tickets before?

Posted: 10/3/04 at 5:05pmI thought the swift-boat thing was okay too. It just needed an AMAZING first show, and it didn't deliver at all. it had little gems that were entertaining but that was it.
#47re: snl's new season
Posted: 10/3/04 at 5:10pmI camped out for tickets last year. Of course I picked the coldest night in NY. It was one degree outside. I went January 9th. My body seriously took a day to thaw. But it was a fun experience, even though I'd probably never do it again (at least not in the winter)!
