Agree, 1'st hour I laughed my ass off! The entire thing was HILARIOUS!

2nd hour was hit-or-miss. I was totally ****ting myself when Lady Gaga was fingerpainting with her vagina juice. GROSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

One of the best episodes of the season. LOVED the digital short.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

I don't tune in too often these days, but I have always enjoyed Justin Timberlake hosting, so I thought I would. I almost turned it off watching that intro sketch, but I'm glad I didn't! Very funny show tonight! Ranks right up there with the Betty White episode IMO.

Timberlake is game for anything, which is why he's an excellent host. Gaga's a superstar.

Best one of the season.
Why can't they just do this every week?

Those Disney Factory kids sure know how to work the comedy and scenes.

Britney was always great when she's on.
Justin is a fixture in the show.
Miley was pretty darn decent.
Anyone remember Christina Aguilera playing Samantha in the Sex in the City Spoof?

These pros should be commended for barely even relying on cue cards.

Gaga was great in the "Liqourville' skit with the clanking wine glasses and in the digital short dressed as Chrissy Snow.

The 'What's My Name" game show bit was cute for her- but her acting was a bit 'wooden' there.

But LORD she just reminds me of Madonna in so many ways.

.....

Jay Pharoah NEEDS to leave. Shame on him for having the opening and ONLY skit in the whole show and having to look at cue cards the whole way and still managing to mess up his lines in an unfunny way.

I have not missed an episode since the late 80's.
SNL is religion to me every Saturday Night.
I stick through it through good and bad because I respect their work on a weekly basis and it is the only trace left of Live Vaudeville in existence.

But JEsus please take away Jay Pharoah.

To be fair, Keenan Thompson also relied on cue cards in the opening skit. I have a feeling that skit was put together very last minute.

OK, I'm done being fair now. Jay Pharaoh is one hell of an impressionist but that's all the credit I can give him.

Keenan Thompson I cannot stand but as the seasons went on he grew on me. I actually have enjoyed some of the "What's Up With That?" sketches.

Please. After Eddie Murphy left SNL, why bother?

Do you know what happens when you let Veal Prince Orloff sit in an oven too long?

Hook- I remember watching Keenan when my kids were younger and he was on the Keenan and Kel Show (whatever happened to Kel?) Anyway, the problem I have with Keenan is that every one of his characters sound exactly alike! At least Jay can do impressions but they just don't use him enough. As soon as my son saw the opening he said he couldn't that they were reading from cue cards! I'm just glad the rest of the episode was funny. Justin should spend a year as a regular!

Justin is fantastic, and Gaga was pretty darn good in her sketches, too.

I am dying to know what was in GaGa's belly.

I was waiting for them to pull out a little monster!

They all rely on cue cards, don't fool yourself. There are just some sketches where cue card placements due to three camera system are easier to place for the performers to make it appear they are not using the cards. Also due to the fact that
the show is rewritten almost up to the moment the words are sent out on air cue cards are used by ALL.

I also thought last night's episode was fantastic. Justin Timberlake is a great host. Gaga did a good job in all of her sketches, as well. Plus, I'm always excited to see Stefan, even if it was only a few seconds.

Diva, I was waiting to see what would pop out of Gaga, too. :)

snafu- I get what you're saying about cue cards but it's still disappointing when some of the actors make it so obvious! Anyway- did you have a hand in Gaga's "liquerville" costume?

Phyllis
what I meant to say was it's the only modern form of vaudeville/burlesque left where the performers perform comedy skits, social satire, political views, sexual situations, etc... and done live every week.

SNL is the last of the vaudeville type.

Ummm - what?

You mean other than all of the local comedy clubs and improv groups that do exactly that but not on television?

Yeah, I'm not sure what to make of that either. Unless he means its the only vaudeville-like (that's tenuously like vaudeville at best) show on tv.

snafu- the beer bottle was hilarious and the costume was well done! Very sorry to hear you quit but what exactly did you quit- SNL? NBC? the whole job at the costume shop I where I met you? You can send me a PM if you want. Very sorry to hear that. Sounds like you are having a really tough year so far. I support you all the way! Hang in there!

"the show is rewritten almost up to the moment the words are sent out on air cue cards are used by ALL"

Not only true but I am pretty sure the writers have fun with this a la the Stefon character. Bill Hader cracks all of the time because he is pretty much reading off the cue cards for the first time.

I thought it was just okay. Not nearly as good as last year when he hosted. I don't see him taking an Emmy for this one.
