Did you know they used me as a model?
Not everybody can pull off those pants John Barrowman is wearing. As it were.

What I think all the parodies are missing is a jab at that weird mechanical arm Beyonce has in the video.
You know that's actually based on my weird mechanical arm?

JT still has the most spot-on parody from his SNL appearance during the hilarious TODAY SHOW w/ Kathie Lee and Hoda spoof. That was one of the first, and clearly the best.
So glad Liza has put what will undoubtedly prove to be the ultimate camp parody version on celluloid for future generations.

I adore everything John Barrowman does, but that really was lame, as if he had never even SEEN any of the other parodies (possible with his gargantuan ego) and suddenly decided, "Hey! Wouldn't it be cool, if I--John Barrowman--lipsynched to a little of this number? My fans will go crazy!"

Didn't he just dance? I didn't even notice his lips moving.

Don't worry, Bobby. Come 2010, some stick-up-the-ass GOP congressional candidate will do a parody at his campaign rally--or they'll somehow equate "put a ring on it" with health care reform or such and start doing the hand gesture--and we can declare it legally dead, just as we did the Macarena after Bob Dole started acknowledging it.

That's why you gotta admire Michael Steele. He pulled out "bling bling" AGES after it assumed room temperature.

Barrowman is experienced (and talented) enough to do many things without you noticing his lips moving.
Has he lost some of his muscle tone? I'm not saying he's a major league fatty but he looks like he's put on a little around his waist.

And you know what I mean when I say it.

That parody is like a year late, honestly. I agree with Pal Joey that it takes someone pretty self absorbed or just not in touch with pop culture, to at this juncture say "wouldn't it be funny, if I did a parody of single ladies." He's not even doing the choreography. Anyway, I wasn't impressed and I didn't even crack a smile. Too little, too late.

For some reason, I never get tired of this song. But I do know I'm really interested in watching the parodies, so I just ignore them. I did notice that the Chipmunkettes perform it in the new Alvin and the Chipmunks film, however. Haven't been able to completely avoid that commercial.

I don't mind the song itself. It's the parodies of the video that are getting old. Everyone thinks they're being original but SNL, and I'm usually the first not to give them credit, trumped them all and in my opinion did it funnier than everyone else (and not just because they were first).
I'm sure we'll get a monkey doing it soon.
