Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Fox is cutting back it's order for Arrested Development to 13 episodes instead of 22. They seem to feel that this is going to be it for my favorite show.

That is too much, it didn't even have a chance with being gone for so long.
re: Sad News for Arrested Development#2
Posted: 11/11/05 at 10:32amThey should move it to one of the pay networks, like Showtime or Hbo. I can see it having a healthy life there. It could also work on FX or Comedy Central.

Not Showtime - I don't get Showtime -- but somewhere else. FX or Comedy Central or HBO -- I like the idea of teaming it with Scrubs on NBC...
One of the funniest shows I've ever seen - what a shame America is too stupid to know what it has.

Posted: 11/11/05 at 11:51amwow, thats a shocker. ive never seen the show, but it seemed to be winning emmy after emmy (or at least being nominated many many times.) this is why i dislike FOX, it doesnt give shows a chance.

Posted: 11/11/05 at 11:53am*sob* I hope it another network would realize Fox mistakes and scoop AD up to give it the respect it deserves. Fox pulled it during sweeps just so they can run repeats of Prison Break. I'm sorry, but that's just ridiculous. How many Emmys has Prison Break been nominated for?
Wanting life but never knowing how
re: Sad News for Arrested Development#7
Posted: 11/11/05 at 11:55amthey've given it more than a fair chance for such a poor performing (even if critically-acclaimed) show. this is its third season and it's just not doing well. you cannot force it on people if they don't want to see it.

Borstal, it has been cancelled.
The show won't be back after the reduced current order of 13 episodes.

prison break is performing better, is a breakout hit and has potential to do a lot more for the network than AD is.
in terms of ratings for sweeps month, a re-run of prison break will deliver better numbers than a first-run AD. like it or not, it is a better business decision for fox.

It's been cancelled, too, RobbO.
Which, I think, is a shame.
re: Sad News for Arrested Development#12
Posted: 11/11/05 at 12:01pmThey've made an announcement like this every season. Is this for sure or just another plea?

As sad as this makes me I can't blame Fox for this. 3 seasons of a consistantly low rated show goes beyond giving it a chance. They really tried to make it a hit. RobbO is right, you can't force people to watch, if you could Entertainment Weekly would be doing it already.
I think AD would fit in very well at Comedy Central, FX, or HBO. It is a critical darling with a cult following so you never know, maybe someone will snap it up.

An "industry newsletter".
Fox Cancels Arrested Development and Kitchen Confidential:
After two and one-half low rated seasons, Fox has given up on Arrested Development, and will end the critically acclaimed sitcom after a reduced current order of 13 episodes. Also getting its walking papers at Fox is companion comedy Kitchen Confidential.

Posted: 11/11/05 at 12:05pmThe lead guy in Kitchen Confidential made me drool a little. I just never really knew when it was on.....I've been missing Arrested alot since it moved to Mondays, I just don't think Fox promoted it enough.

*takes execs at Fox who decide to advertise the sh!t out of Prison Break and not at all of AD and slaps them back to the 2004 Emmy Awards*
I'd love to see it on HBO in a block with Curb Your Enthusiasm.
*walks away with head down and Charlie Brown Christmas music in the backround*

I really hope HBO or someone picks it up.
By far my favorite show on TV.

Posted: 11/11/05 at 6:44pmSigh. Can't say I didn't see it coming, though I had hoped it would pull a Seinfeld and see a huge increase in ratings this season. Anyway, I'd love it for another network to pick it up, but it's doubtful. I'll just have to be content with my DVD's.
