If it was between Explorer and Safari - no question, it should be SAFARI.
For me, I love Firefox also.

Hah, right.
At any rate, the fact that it's a beta made by Mac for Windows makes me even more wary, so I'll probably just wait until an official release to try it out, although I doubt having one more crash-prone browser would hurt.

THE ISSUE WOULD BE WINDOWS NOT MAC'S.
Oh, sorry, was I yelling? I'm in the cult, you know.

"what's better about Safari over Mozilla Firefox? I've loved Firefox."
If you love Firefox then stick with it. Safari is another browser which some people might prefer once they try it. I'm sure others will not like it. It will cost nothing to download it try it out and if you don't like it then delete it. Browsers are free and it all comes down to a matter of feel and taste.

Posted: 6/12/07 at 12:25pmI agree with the look too. It seems to be much easier on the eyes, and I love the toolbar on top with your bookmarks/favorites. My explorer has locked up, crashed and taken so long to move to new pages lately that I thought something was wrong with my computer - alas - now I know it was the program.

Posted: 6/12/07 at 12:34pmI think as long as you ditch IE, you can't go wrong. I prefer Firefox to Safari, but either are preferable to IE. I had a zillion computer problems that instantly went away when I stopped using IE.

Posted: 6/12/07 at 6:55pmIs it Safari that makes you not able to open things in a new window? Or is that just macs in general?

Posted: 6/12/07 at 6:58pmDon't know what you are talking about. You have a choice of opening things in new windows or in tabs with Safari.

It has already been hacked...
"It took security engineers perhaps less than two hours yesterday to introduce Apple's surprise entry in the field of Windows browsers to the big, cruel world of exploits and vulnerabilities, following its introduction yesterday morning at WWDC. As a result, much of the clout Safari had received as the secure browsing alternative to Internet Explorer and Firefox -- as long as it was on a Macintosh -- was burned off like fire to a flash fuse.
Errata Security engineer David Maynor had a report posted on the first vulnerability he found by 1:48 pm, complete with screenshots of the pre-crash letdown dialog produced by his fuzzing tool. As he admitted, it wasn't a difficult crash to find, posting a screen shot of the memory dump revealing both a stack corruption and an access violation, and then giving credit to Thor Larholm for posting a complete report on the calamity not an hour later."

That should tell you something about the Windows OS.
Update: Also this the first BETA version of the PC application.

My friend has Safari and she can't open things in new windows. Maybe there's a way to do it, and she just doesn't know how.

Opening things in new windows is probably the simplest part of using the program. Your friend should check out the Help menu in Safari to show her know how to do it or she can use the combination keys of command and N or for a new tab command and T.
