Two women from my same-sex parenting group just got married. So many others are going to this week. It's so beautiful!

Another friend is the partner of a Sargent First Class in the army. They have three daughters. She carried all three. In order for their daughters to receive benefits, my friend had to give up parental rights so that her partner could adopt them. They have to pay for her health care policy. She can't get on post without her partner. She can't shop at the commissary. (This is a HUGE deal, since they recently relocated to Hawaii.) Her partner is a career soldier. Now, with the end of DOMA, they will be marrying in California and everything will change for them. It's SO incredible!!!

You can say that again!

As a Californian, I have felt nothing but shame as my state lagged behind in terms of marriage equality (even though my own marriage wasn't really in jeopardy).

Finally! Add us to the list of enlightened states!
