From Going Rogue: "It got so bad that a couple of times I had a friend in Anchorage track down phone numbers for me, and then I snuck in calls to folks like Rush Limbaugh, Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity and someone I thought was Larry Kudlow but turned out to be Neil Cavuto's producer. I had a friend call Bill O'Reilly after I was inundated with supporters in Alaska asking why the campaign was 'ignoring' his on-air requests for a McCain campaign interview. I had another friend scrambling to find Mark Levin's number. Aboard the campaign plane I was within twenty-five feet of reporters for hours on end. Headquarters' strategy was that I should not go to the back of the aircraft and talk to the press. At first this was subtle, but as the campaign wore on, Tracey or Tucker would call headquarters to request permission, and someone in DC would respond, "No! Absolutely not- block her if she tries to go back.""

With respect to the title of this thread, I believe Sarah Palin should be given unfettered access to media 24x7, with one condition: she must grant a one-hour interview to Rachel Maddow, with no pre-conditions.

Regarding the "first ten lies", I just sort of bundle the book in its entirely as one lie and leave it at that. There may be some scattered truths in there, such as her birthplace or the name of her father, but it's not like I would count those anyway. I'm not going to hunt for her insignificant tarnished little truth needles in her giant stinking sh*t-filled lying haystack. I'm likely to find more truth in The Lost Symbol.

The Couric interview is fascinating to me: If you are conducting an interview and the subject is unable to answer basic questions about their area of expertise (i.e. politics, government policy) you move on to neutral topics. "What magazines do you read? Do you watch much TV?" To think that Palin thought these sorts of "Cocktail party" questions were "Badgering" is unfathomable.

I don't like Palin and usually laugh at her idiotic maneuvers. That said, I wouldn't call all ten of those "lies" lies. Many are opinions. Many books don't have the ghostwriter's name on the cover. Alaska is America and calling it a foreign country is just an opinion. If in her twisted mind she was badgered and there was a "bad aura" then that's her perception. I am not defending her by any stretch, but she does lie enough for legitimate attacks. Don't pull a Palin and rework the truth to suit you.

On some of the points, I'll concede to you, but it's sort of like splitting hairs. Is she lying, crazy, or both?

I find it difficult to believe that Sarah Palin has read a book, much less written one.

Sometimes one, sometimes the other, many times both but always at least one.

I want Tina Fey to appear on SNL to demolish the Oprah/Palin interview ASAP.

The only "lie" I quibble with is the "American" one: Alaska is certainly America. It is not, however, part of the "real America" or "American America" as depicted by Sarah Palin during the campaign.

There are two parodies of "Going Rogue" circulating at the same time, each of them titled "Going Rouge." It is more than possible that some of Palin's fans will buy one or another of these parodies, believing it to be "Going Rogue." Judging by the caliber of fans she attracts, I wonder if any of them will read the parody book all the way through WITHOUT realizing their mistake...

The Huffington Post is pushing a bit with that list. I wouldn't say those are so much lies as some of the stupidest things she's said and done.

Not knowing Africa is a continent really isn't a lie. Refusing to acknowledge its existence is but, as far as I know, she hasn't admitted that in public (yet).

Lots of Hollywood-celebrity memoirs put the coauthor's name on the title page but not the jacket. We'll see on Tuesday if Sarah put her homophobic coauthor's name on the title page.

Greg Sargent's blog has a response from a McCain adviser to Sarah's claims.

Because Couric had low self-esteem?

SO if I want to become a major TV interviewer all I have to say to my potential interviewees is that I think I'm fat and I wish I wasn't born? I'm in!

I think the alleged low self-esteem is about the CBS Nightly News not being Katie's greatest triumph.

Sorry if more people come out against what they are lies in Sarah Palin's book can she be sued for libel?

And Oddly I think that interview with Palin is what got more people watching and stop doubting Katie's skills as a legit news-person.

I feel that Sarah should just have her own 24 hour channel to just be ridiculous and amusing. It would have two benefits: A) She could entertain me with her... antics and B) she wouldn't be a politician anymore! It's perfect!

FACT CHECK: Palin's Book Goes Rogue on Some Facts

What bothers me most, among the many things that bother me, is that she takes no responsibility for anything. She is always the victim. To a pathological extent, in my opinion.

And her inherent belief that she knows everything about everything better than anyone else screams narcissism. It never occurs to her that the campaign was trying to muzzle her because she had no knowledge or depth and plays fast and free with truth and facts.

One Datalounge poster summed it up perfectly with a one-liner I immediately appropriated: "If Sarah Palin were any more self-serving she'd be a microwave dinner."
