The real one, not Tina Fey.

Sorry if this has been posted before, I can't keep up with all the Palin threads.

Posted: 10/10/08 at 7:38amYeah- like they said on CNN last night, with all of the things going on in the world, the candidates are asking- Should I go on Saturday Night Live? If she does, I hope they throw a zinger at her- since it IS live! Palin is obviously digging the spotlight! Someone even suggested that it would be better for the McCain ticket not to win because Palin would make out big afterwards with speaking engagments and what nots.

And then on 10/29 Obama is running a 30 minute "commercial".
I don't know know how that's really considered a commercial, but
a)I bet it costs a boatload of moolah, and
b)I bet it's gonna pretty much finish off McCain

Posted: 10/10/08 at 8:14amI feel like I should like the Obama infomercial more than I do, but it just reminds me of the hours and hours of late-night programming that wack-ass mofo (and perennial presidential candidate) Lyndon LaRouche always runs.

Posted: 10/10/08 at 8:14amReports are that Obama has bought the 8:00-8:30 time slot on 10/29 on CBS, NBC, and MSNBC, and may also add Fox depending on the status of the World Series (game six is scheduled for that night, but if the series ends before then Obama may add Fox). That decision to skip federal campaign financing is looking better and better. Obama is outspending McCain in the battleground states by anywhere from 2-1 to 5-1 in most places.

You may be tired of my bringing this up, but I think the most effective way any one of us can help the campaign is to donate to the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund's TV ad on Sarah Palin. It is the most successful ad in bringing voters against Palin/McCain. Even a $10 donation helps when hundreds of others donate the same.
The fact that Palin/McCain bring up the Obama - terrorist slur now is because they are bankrupt in strategies for dealing with the economy, so they divert attention to an emotional witch hunt.
p.s. DoWAF haven't updated their page, but they are still running the ad still accept donations

She's jest avoidin' gatcha palitix.
I love Edie McClurg, but if this bitch is on my tv any more, I'm gonna do something bad...

Mamie, I don't consider myself to be shallow at all. But if he pre-empts Dirty Sexy Money, I will be upset. So far, it seems that he hasn't gotten time on ABC yet. But my reason for being upset is that I am getting a bit tired of the bombardment of this campaign. I follow it on the news and on Sunday morning political shows. I have Obama people outside of my office building asking me "What am I going to do for Obama". My answer is always, "I am going to vote for him". I have a co-worker that talks non-stop ALL day about the campaign. I participate in conversations with friends over drinks periodically and I read posts and links that are posted here at BWW. Wednesday is one of my favorite TV nights and I enjoy getting away from the political stuff for a few hours. For me, this is just a bit much. If it were an interview, I might watch. But I am getting burned out. I want Nov. 4th to come so I can vote for the man and I don't have to continue to endure all of this mess they are calling campaigns. Just my thoughts.

You think Sarah will joke about Troupergate?
Maybe a sketch where she calls the head of NBC and demands that Tina Fey be fired.

I'm finding Palin's Oct.25 appearance a little less-likely now... but should be incredibly interesting/unnerving if she does decide to show-up.
Can someone please provide me a news-link announcing re: Obama's 30-min infomercial for Oct.29?
Thank you

It should be interesting!
I love Tina Fey's Sarah Palin sketches. The writing is smart, she's got the look, the voice, the bizarre speech patterns, etc. But the character is kind of bumbling, clueless and (dare I say!) lovable. Palin may be dangerously uninformed and clueless about issues of importance, but the difference is, there is a smugness and DELIBERATE mean streak I see in the real Palin.
That said, I'll still tune in to see what they come up with. I liked the Poehler/real Hillary sketch.

Posted: 10/11/08 at 1:08pmI can't imagine Fey would ever agree to appear with her seeing how she abhors her. If Palin does the show it's going to be an awkward, boring and unfunny cameo a la McCain.

Posted: 10/11/08 at 4:16pmSNL will rib her but they will be kind while she is on the show. They do not want to be known for embarrassing their political guests otherwise they won't get them on anymore. I really don't think it will be a bloodbath or a train wreck. McCain when he was on joked about his age in an offhanded way. Hillary about Amy's impersonation of her laugh. I am sure there will be a mirror sketch or like when they had Will being Janet in Janet Reno's Dance Party have her burst in during an impersonation sketch.

Posted: 10/11/08 at 5:12pmYeah but Janet Reno was a COMPLETE surprise! There was no hype that she may even appear. I was watching that night and absolutely loved it!

When SNL first hit the airwaves they were responsible (in my opinion) for transforming Gerald Ford from a benevolent transitional President to a bumbling, clumsy moron. They savaged him week after week after week. Ford tried to "Laugh along with the joke" by sending his press secretary on to host, with a couple taped bits with Ford dropped in. I remember reading reviews at the time that said somehow SNL had "Taken his own press secretary and shoved him up the president's ass."
I can only hope they will take John McCain's own running mate and do the same.

I have a feeling like it will be like the Forbidden Broadway Sketch of Carol Channing and then the real Carol Channing shows up.
Something with Tina Fey as Sarah Palin and then the real one comes on says "Who are You?"...
