I want to go see that movie soooo bad. Too bad it's one of those movies that'll show only at certain theaters.
Hey, Elph, you found a theatre where it was playing?!?! Good times!
I saw it (and The US vs. John Lennon) this afternoon. I think I liked Eternal Sunshine a bit more, but I definitely enjoyed this tremendously as well. It got some iffy reviews, so I was a little nervous going in that it would be a disappointment (after I'd been looking forward to it so much). God, I love Gael Garcia Bernal!
it looks famazing and I hope to see it soon!
Gael is probably one of my favorite actors working right now. I loved him in La Mala Education and in Y Tu Mama Tambien.
God, is he sexy in Bad Education.... I loved the pool scene.
We were going to seet his tonight, but decided to watch what we have instead. We have two free tickets to any Regal theatre, so maybe we'll see it this week.

It's so amazing. Gondry's a genius.
Love that stop-motion!
That's awesome, I saw the trailer before Little Miss Sunshine, and fell in love with it. I can't wait to see it.
I'm continually impressed by Gael Garcia Bernal...it's a flippin' adorable movie!!!
Just saw it and was very much light down.
I thought this was more a case of "style over substance". Gondry's a fine director and I thought that the movie LOOKED fantastic but the story (what little there was) meandered from silly pretentious conversation to silly pretentious conversation. Gael and Charlotte and the rest of the cast were quite good (I quite like Charlotte) and I loved the stop motion animation and some of the effects. The clouds in the room was particularly magical. But overall, I thought it was just ok.
any other thoughts?
A pretentiously awful movie.
How so? I thought it was great. Heart breaking. Both leads bring incredible humanity to their characters, who never feel like cartoons, and the movie itself is so imaginative.
The DVD has some interesting features, but overall the film was a bit of a let down after ETERNAL SUNSHINE. I enjoyed it, but it didnt seem to have the same sense of whimsy: it was trying a bit too hard to be "magical". Still, far better than the endless parade of sequels we're getting from the major studios this summer.
It wasn't as amazing as I thought it would be (I saw it right when it came out on DVD), but I did really enjoy it. Gael Garcia Bernal is one of my favorite actors. I thought it was cute and sweet and imaginative.
And I agree with Sean that thank god it's not another sequel... (though I can't wait for Pirates and HP. sorry.)
