I don't mind it...but we used to have a really good, award winning program, and then the program changed hands. (And we lost all our talent) I am ashamed of it.
But I don't mind Catholic schools...ours isn't really that strict at all.

Posted: 9/6/04 at 9:32pmLG-The catholic schools here in the Poconos are famous for their pre packaged casting. All of the leads are in with the heads of school, while the real talent is put in the ensemble (though there is nothing wrong with being in the ensemble)

I just got out of a Catholic school, and started a public high school on Thursday. So far so good, only they don't have a good performing arts program. I'll have to deal with it though. At least I get to play soccer :)
Ugh, and I just found out one of my best friends got a solo in a Christmas concert we're both in. Which means I didn't

OMG. You are describing my school.
I have a friend who can sing both opera and musical theater, she's had more experience than anyone there, and she is a kickass dancer.
She's NEVER gotten more than ensemble. That's another reason I quit, I don't know how she does it...she's so talented, but she never gets even a supporting role. Makes me sick.

The worst part with directing, as a student, is the auditioning.

Well I'm off.
I'll try to login tomorrow night to check things out but I can't make any promises.
Night all.

I'm starting school tomorrow as well. grrrr! AND, i don't have any Free periods, which means I won't be able to randomly go into the library and post, nor will i have much time after school.
BUT, somehow i'll make time... there's always room for procrastinating before homework!

I'm with you, BwayTheatre. I've been in school for a week and a half, taking 6 classes and holding down a part-time job. On the plus side, 3 of those classes are Musicianship, Set Design, and Shakespeare. And we're reading the plays of Aristophanes in Political Theory. (The Frogs, anyone?) So I get my theater fix while working for graduation.
Besides, 300 pages of reading a week isn't that bad.

Posted: 9/7/04 at 2:33amHonestly? I wish I was in school...at least I would have something to do! I'm taking a year off between freshman and sophomore years of college...so I'll probably be here very regularly! Have a great school year everyone!

Just got back from school!!!! omg... i may just die. See, i told you i would procrastinate before homework. I have a bunch of homework to do, including Math problems, English reading, q's, quotes, speech, Drama prep, Choir prep, and i have to go and buy a bunch of stuff for classes! eek!
AP ENGLISH is the devil! i'm so scared... especially since i've been in regular English the past years of highschool (not honors) and I was recommended and now I don't like it at all! The teacher terrified me with everything she expects. She's an ex-nun who's extremely passionate about reading... and she told us that we have to get intimate with books like she is (prolly the only intimacy she's ever had)... anyways... ahhhh! i better go get this done.
sorry for the massive amount of venting.

I'm Back!
School actually went really good (great schedual)
Only one problem: The girl who was supposed to co-direct the spring show now does not want anything to do with the spring show, which means that unless I find a new co-director I won't be able to star in the show as well as direct.
