Wicked_Cakes, ChenoItes, and MenzelFans: Migratory posters. Much like locusts, they temporarily inhabit the boards chewing up bandwidth and multiplying, while bringing disease and pestulance to the board environment. They are often the prey of all of the above. Their only armour is righteous indignation and grade school snarks. 'You're dumb, WICKED ROCKS!!!'

love it! But you now need to add a Renthead catagory......

I believe the phrase you are looking for, Elphaba, is "Pot - Kettle - Black."

Does this still apply? I was thinking about it, and I think it does. It may be a bit dated, but one of my prouder posts. re: Scientific Classification of BWW.com Board Posters

Anyone have classifications to add now?

Suck-ups: They seek popularity by being overly nice, and therefore jump on the bang wagon every single time it rolls by. Suck-ups when shot down can/will eventually turn into newbies, or if drama ensues will return as a sock puppet.

It's funny how accurate the classifications still are.

The first time I read it, I was a shier and less talkative version of the Newbie. Now, I don't know what category I fall in. None of those fit.
Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be enbered with your old nonsense. ~ Emerson

ck - you aren't implying that a current moderator could be making use of a sock puppet, are you?

re: Scientific Classification of BWW.com Board Posters

I think there is probably a classification located somewhere between oldie and newbie. Now that the board has been around for a bit longer there is a pretty substantial group of people who don't quite qualify as the oldies yet (though I think that classification goes beyond original broadway.com transfers now-a-days) but have definitely moved out of the newbie stage.

I think I most frequently fall under the cynic classification, though there are definitely parts of others that I occasionally glean from depending on circumstance.

re: Scientific Classification of BWW.com Board Posters

Well, I wasn't around when the website first started but when I joined in June '04 (almost my two year anniversary), there was a significant fewer people here. Ah . . . those were the times. It seemed like we had better discussions and we got along with each other more back then. And I miss some of my original pals (JudyinDisguise, FloweryFriend . . . who is on less than I want her to be . . . , and others).

re: Scientific Classification of BWW.com Board Posters

Hey, I had completely forgotten about this thread! Glad to see that it is alive and well. I never did figure out which category I belonged to though... It is most assuredly true that many of the categories are still shockingly accurate, but I agree that there are a good number of posters that fall somewhere between oldie and newbie. Anyone want to take the time and effort to name and describe such a category, or are these posters doomed to be forever stuck in limbo??? :)

re: Scientific Classification of BWW.com Board Posters

I agree with time passing, there needs to be a, or maybe a couple of, new categories. Unless you want to subdivide the newbies category.

re: Scientific Classification of BWW.com Board Posters

I was normal, yet find myself drifting into cynic. I'm like the poster that everyone sees, but nobody speaks of. I don't know if that is because I am boring or what, but shhh mums the word.
