Posted: 11/13/08 at 5:07pmI have a friend who bought a deep fryer and she went through a phase where she was deep frying everything. I think she gained 10 pounds.

I'm gonna give it a shot! My husband was like "Oh yeah, that's really good for you".
I don't care I'm makin' 'em anyway!

"Welsh rarebit! I used to make that when I was a kid. "
I always thought it was welsh rabbit!
Anyway, back to the topic-I eat almost everything, but these sound gross! I don't like eggs anyway, so maybe that's it.
For all you in the NY area-do you know about Myers of Keswick? It's a British deli on Hudson Street in the village. They only carry stuff from the UK. I like the little beef and potato pies. They also have the Uk version of our candy bars.

A British deli? That's almost a contradiction in terms!
They've got Shreddies in the window - the only breakfast cereal whose name is also a slang term for underwear.
I do like Welsh Rarebit. There are various different recipes but if anyone is ever in Bath, Sally Lunn's is the best Welsh Rarebit I've tasted.
Welsh rabbits are surprisingly aggressive but that's another story...

"A British deli? That's almost a contradiction in terms! "
I know! Not a good word. Let me change it. It's a tiny grocery store, as you can see.
What would they call it over there?

Made them for dinner last night. My HUSBAND (husband husband husband, just saying) looked a little worried before he tried it, but we both loved them!
Wow! They are really good, but I was so bloated after eating two of them, I had to nap.

How dare you diss the British cuisine. Are we not the nation that brought the world deep fried mars bars? Did we not offer our deep fried fish and chips, our deep fried scotch eggs? You ungrateful wretches. A curse on your monteray jack cheese.
I could say more, but I need to get to my local McDonalds before it closes.
Like it ever does!!!!!!!!

Lots of chopped fresh herbs in the sausagemeat makes a big difference.
I have made Scotch Eggs a few times, but as you can buy them from most supermarkets and delis I usually don't bother. Worth the effort though. as the ones you buy can be very hard.

"What would they call it over there?"
Grocery Shop will do quite nicely. Although this one looks like it belongs in a theme park. Next time I'm in Keswick I shall have to see if Myers actually do have a branch there.
Hulmeman: get thee to Didsbury where there are gorgeous Kosher and Polish delis and great restaurants.

"Did we not offer our deep fried fish and chips,"
I'm sorry, when I was in London, those were the WORST fish and chips EVER. Fishy tasting, greasy and nasty.
I'm making more of those eggs for breakfast...

I tried something new and used home made bread crumbs from some Hawaiian Sweet Bread I had left.
They turned black in seconds and they ended up looking like a burnt asteroid.
Stick to store bought crumbs.
