Don't know how this jives with the GOP pledge to filibuster everything but tax cuts, but:
"I have been in the military for 31 years and counting, and have served as a subordinate and as an officer. As a legislator, I have spent a significant amount of time on military issues. During my time of service, I have visited our injured troops at Walter Reed and have attended funerals of our fallen heroes. When a soldier answers the call to serve, and risks life or limb, it has never mattered to me whether they are gay or straight. My only concern has been whether their service and sacrifice is with pride and honor.
I pledged to keep an open mind about the present policy on Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. Having reviewed the Pentagon report, having spoken to active and retired military service members, and having discussed the matter privately with Defense Secretary Gates and others, I accept the findings of the report and support repeal based on the Secretary’s recommendations that repeal will be implemented only when the battle effectiveness of the forces is assured and proper preparations have been completed."
How about them apples?
It doesn't count until Roscoe turns it into bad news.

Scott Brown: good-looking and open-minded. Hmmm...I'm starting to like this guy.
He also wants to repeal health-care reform.
Rachel Maddow is reporting that Susan Collins from Maine is also supporting repeal.

That makes me not like him so much.

They will Tea Bag him into submission.

It's funny how people call it "health-care reform." As if something was being reformed.

Yes, let's call it The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Be accurate.
Call it whatever you want. He wants to repeal it.
Don't get me wrong. I'm happy he wants to repeal DADT. But that means that and only that. It doesn't mean he's a different person.

A tasty little statement from Mr. Brown. It should be pretty obvious by now that there's a difference between issuing a statement supporting repeal of DADT and actually voting for the legislation that would repeal DADT.
I've no doubt that Mr. Brown supports a balanced budget, peace on earth and good will towards men and truth and justice and the American Way. Of course, he's also a Republican, which pretty well negates all of that.
And...there it is!

I've said this before: there are some truly fine people who are Republicans. I've known them and I've gone so far as to work on the campaign of one of them.
You really can't make blanket statements about these matters.

As long as they're good looking, right?

Well, good looks can only help.

Truly fine people don't belong to hate organizations like the Republican party.

Again, you're generalizing.
One of the deacons in our church is a Republican judge (and he's not particularly good-looking). He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He knows I'm gay and that doesn't bother him in the least. I've been to his home on several occasions and we've had some serious discussions about same-sex marriage--a concept he admits to having difficulty with. It's not his attitude toward equal rights, it's his concept that marriage is for procreation. He admits it's a stumbling block. Perhaps more discussions will get him to change his mind. Dunno.
Yes, there are lots of hateful Republicans but there are also many good ones. You probably don't hear much about the good ones, though.

Interesting how folks are so able to put such petty distinctions as political affiliation with hate groups to the side. A Republican Judge and Pillar Of The Church who is open minded enough to have gay people in his home but is not open minded enough to admit that gay people are deserving of the same protections that he deserves is NOT A FINE PERSON. That Republican Judge and Pillar is A BIGOT. Plain and simple, no two ways about it.

When the "marriage is for procreation" crowd starts going after the infertile and elderly - and by going after, I mean actively trying to deny them rights. Rights that in some states that they don't even have - then I would take someone like that seriously. Until then, it's just a great way to give faux legitimacy to bigotry that is just as much a relic as the Catholic church itself is.
The bible says absolutely nothing at all about marriage being for procreation.
Nothing.

That same judge has dug into his pocket and given money to people in the parish who were undergoing very hard times and spends several night a week working at the local soup kitchen.
Yes, gay issues are important, but they shouldn't be the only barometer of a person's decency.
I watched the hearings and Brown was really irritated that so few surveys were completed and turned in. He said that is something that has changed since he was a JAG.
