INHOFE: As you see here, and I think this is maybe the most important prop we’ll have during the entire debate, my wife and I have been married 47 years. We have 20 kids and grandkids. I’m really proud to say that in the recorded history of our family, we’ve never had a divorce or any kind of homosexual relationship.

Just tearoom sex.
However...I have examined that photograph, and recognize at least three family members as habitues of the men's room at the Molly Pitcher rest stop on the NJ Turnpike.
methinks he protesteth too much.......
I'm proud there's never been a homosexual relationship in my family either.
We try to stick with partners who are unrelated to us.
I'll bet Fred Phelps could say the same thing, James.
No divorce? Please. He lives in Oklahoma. There, if you find someone with all their teeth, you stay together for life. There's not much chance of lightning striking twice.
I'm proud there's never been an Inhofe in mine.
They skipped gay marriage and went right for the sex with animals and marrying trees.
The vote in on C-SPAN right now.
SHAME ON ROBERT BYRD.
I, for one, am not surprised at all at Mr. Inhofe's statement. I mean, dear lord, what self respecting gay person would ever desire one of his clan? I'm afraid he erected a very large glass house - let's hope none of his stones bounce back ...
And what a pig, to stand on the Senate floor and declare: Look how much better MY family is than all of you.
My mother's divorce (not from my father, mind you) is one of the things that makes me most proud of her.
Okay, it's over. They didn' even get to vote on the amendment. They votted 49-48 cloture, and they needed 60 to continue the debate.
They didn't even get what closet-case Karl Rove REALLY wanted: to have the Democrats Vote "in favor" of gay marriage.
The whole issue is dead. Maybe Karl Rove's nazi-like tactic of scapegoating has been also been killed.
Now let's get back to the business of the country.

Notice he specifies "recorded history." It's just that no Inhofe has been caught yet writing in his journal about his boyfriend, Chet.

How would he know?
Is he also claiming to be God?

The queer community is proud of it too. I mean - look at that gene pool! Totally unfu**able.
The GOP is trying to act like they made gains today with their vote going from 48 to 49 (and in their mind 50 for the one senator that was absent).
I think this is foolish--they had gained seats since the last time this came to a vote. And shouldn't that mean they should have reached 52? If that's the case, they LOST momentum.
How sad that we have 49-50 bigots in the Senate. How very sad.
Now that that's settled (for the moment), did any Democrat actually stand up in actual favor of same-sex marriage? I'm curious because, in all the otherwise-eloquent (god, Calvin, I can't STOP using hyphens now) speeches against this amendment, the Democrats were quick to trip over their own tongues expressing their dissent with same-sex marriage.
Honestly, how could anyone keep a straight face when he was presenting this?

Why does this man feel it is okay for him to say something like this? Why is a gay person equivalent to a sexual act--like they aren't a PERSON at all? It's equivalent to Mr. Inhofe saying that he is proud that there has never been a black person or a Jew in his family.
I say we should start more BWW rumors.
Calvin's much better at this, but I'll start by saying I hear Inhofe will be serving as the warmup act for Prussian Blue at their next concert in Georgia.
I caught random speeches. I got the feeling that Kennedy and Leahy and Boxer were supporting gay marriage as they made much to do about this being discrimination, etc. I forget if they outrightly said they supported gay marriage, but you couldn't help but feel they did.
Sadly, they'd probably never say it. They always have to throw in that "Now, I believe marriage should be between a man and a woman" caveat before they say anything.
And whither Hillary?
Yeah--that made me sad. Some walked the Clinton line of "this shouldn't be a federal issue". But those 3 did not go that route. I'm sure Feingold was the same way.

Inhofe, if you remember, was also the one who said after the Oklahoma City bombing that he figured there wouldn't be many injuries because federal employees wouldn't be at their desks at 9 a.m.; they'd be off somewhere drinking coffee. A class act.
