“I opposed the shutdown from Day One. I think it was wrong that President Obama and Harry Reid forced the shutdown. They forced the shutdown because they wouldn’t compromise on Obamacare,” Cruz lamented.

"This is an administration that seems bound and determined to violate every one of our Bill of Rights," Cruz said. "I expect them to start quartering soldiers in people's homes [in violation of the 3rd Amendment] soon."

(Conservative Republican Representative Devin) Nunes said crafting a deal to end the shutdown is problematic because House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, has run into a wall of opposition from Cruz's House allies to any deal.
"It's really difficult at this time until the Cruz people decide and admit to our base that their whole premise of getting rid of Obamacare by shutting down our government was a lie. So until that happens, there's not going to be a lot of movement," Nunes said in a telephone interview Monday. "This is his strategy that he's laid out, spent money on, and he's got a lot of members of the Congress to go along with."

Through his spokesperson, Ted Cruz denies he caused the government shutdown.
“Members cast votes independently of any other lawmaker’s policy priorities.”
Even though he spoke for 21 hours on the floor of the U.S. Senate.
“Madam President, I intend to speak in opposition to Obamacare. I intend to speak in support of defunding Obamacare, until I am no longer able to stand.”
Cruz must have conveniently forgotten about all that talk. And that’s all it was. Talk.
Is Senator Ted Cruz a liar? Or really just a coward.
Iff'n he ain't the grand-daddy of all liars?

What's unprecedented about Cruz and similar Tea Party Republicans who make up about a third of the House Republican conference is that the aggrieved localized minority has gone national. Republicans once thought Fox News and the conservative media bubble were strategic advantages that allowed them to coordinate messages and organize voters; instead, they have allowed Republican voters to remain unaware that their favorite politicians are lying to them and alienating the median voter.
Losing one election wasn't nearly enough to wake Republican voters up to this problem. Ted Cruz isn't alone on his strange planet; much of the Republican Party is right there with him. And that's likely to be true for a long time.

Connelly talks about student debt and unemployment challenges, but never mentions Obamacare.
However, Sen. Cruz claimed that Connelly's problems were cause by Obamacare, noted RawStory.com.
Connolly appeared MSNBC's "The Ed Show" today and said that Obamacare was not to blame as Sen. Cruz claimed (video below).
“It seems kind of bizarre that he’s blaming a law that was passed in 2010 on trends that go back well past 2007,” said Connelly.
Connelly, who has never met or spoken to Sen. Cruz, said that he and his younger sister have actually benefited from Obamacare, which he called a "sweet deal."
"It’s kind of shameful for [Sen. Cruz] to act as if he is acting in the best interest of young folks, while pushing for his own agenda," added Connelly.

In just a few days of governing by hashtag, Ted Cruz has gone from asking for a government shutdown to protesting one now that it's happened and people think it's dumb. Last week, the Texas senator wanted to #MakeDCListen by shutting down the government unless Democrats agreed to defund Obamacare. On Wednesday, he wanted Congress to #LetTheVetsIn — as in, open the World War II memorial so veterans could visit. The memorial, like other national parks, was closed by the shutdown....
Cruz and other conservatives campaigned for the strategy. In a speech September 19, Cruz said the last shutdown had a pretty a good outcome: "If House Republicans hadn't stood up in 1995, we wouldn't have seen those kind of public policy results that benefit the country," Cruz said. "Because Republicans stood their ground."

"Cruz said. Obama and the Democrats are also losing support because millions of Americans don’t want Obamacare, he added."
If you are an American and you DO support "Obamacare" please call Ted's office and tell him so.

That's not very Ayn Rand of you, Ted.

So I guess he was all for shutting down the government but keeping the memorials open?
It's weird to me that the conservatives I know get more worked up that the monuments or parks are closed than soldiers not getting paid or whatever....

I enjoyed all of the coverage of this ridiculous display of hatred on MSNBC last night!
I know that he has no shame, but Cruz may regret attending that rally!

Even his friends don't like him:
Yesterday, the editors of the Houston Chronicle's opinion page expressed regret at endorsing Ted Cruz last fall, writing that Cruz “has been part of the problem in specific situations where [his predecessor, Kay Bailey] Hutchison would have been part of the solution.”

“Months ago, when the effort to defund Obamacare began, official Washington scoffed, they scoffed that the American people would rise up, they scoffed that the House of Representatives would do anything and they scoffed that the Senate would do anything.”
“We saw the House of Representatives take a courageous stand, listening to the American people, that everyone in official Washington just weeks earlier said would never happen,” he continued. “And that was a remarkable victory, to see the House engage in a profile in courage.”
“Unfortunately, the Senate chose not to follow the House. And in particular, we saw real division among Senate Republicans. That was unfortunate. I would point out that had Senate Republicans united and supported House Republicans, the outcome of this, I believe, would have been very, very different.”

Hey look another worthless piece of poop Republican!
"I don’t think that the government should be involved in health care or health insurance," Greg Collett, 41, of Caldwell told NBC News earlier this month.
Collett, a self-employed software developer by trade, went on to note that his ten children — two biological, eight adopted — are all recipients of health insurance through the government's Medicaid program, and acknowledged that "there are a lot of people out there that’ll cry foul" over the dissonance.
And of course he's running for office
