I don't know Carlos, I think it just depends how it was written. If her memoir focuses primarily on her sex romps, then I might agree. But then it could be more boring than shocking. Andt if these are the only instances in the whole book, it may not be that big of a deal.
So let's take a look at what was mentioned in the leak:
David's nickname was given to him by his brothers, so apparently they all knew...
Sex in the backseat of her car, with her husband, in a garage adjacent to the house. That sounds pretty innocuous to me. If it was in the backseat of her car with a stranger on the studio lot, well, that'd be a bit more salacious.
And the time with Anthony Newley, well it says they asked her and Jack to get naked, doesn't mean they did. So we'd have to read the book to find out!
So far it sounds more like a marketing gimmick. But now I may have to check it out!
Besides, after seeing her in "The Drew Carey Show", and "Grandma's Boy", she always struck me as someone who'd enjoy a good romp in the hay! So it's not all that surprising back in the 60's and early 70's she might've had a good time. And she probably still does!

I like finding out that a woman at her advanced age loved sex and still does. I think she's a Republican so that makes it even more delicious to me that she's telling tales that would curl Nancy Reagan's wig. Maybe we'll even find out if the Marty Ingels handcuff story is true.

I think they do this because Shirley's overall image is one of innocence. Her roles Oklahoma, Carousel, Music Man, Partridge Family were all sweet. (Yes she did play a prostitute and I think a woman addicted to gambling, but we don't think of those right away). If everyone thinks Shirley is as sweet as her roles, then nobody will buy the book.

She can still be sweet and a slut. Look at me!
Very few people are actually as sweet as the roles Shirley played in Hollywood and on television.
The memoir focuses on her tragic love for the charismatic Broadway actor Jack Cassidy, who was not only bisexual but bipolar and self-destructive. The stories about him are jaw-dropping, but the insight she gives into what it was like to love such a dynamic man and watch him (literally) burn himself to death...well, it's very moving. Your heart goes out to the sons of such a boundary-less father. That the Cassidy boys are even still alive is nothing short of a miracle.
She's remarkably frank about her sexual life, both s a young virginal actress and as a septuagenarian, which, as Namo said, could just as equally be seen as refreshing candor.
The book may be shocking, but boring it is not.
Saw her recently at the Irish Rep's Benefit and she is still a very stunning woman!
She *is* a stunning woman. She's always been one of my favorites actresses. I'm sure the book will sell very well, she has a legion of fans through her film and television work. She's a true living legend.

I hope Shirley wanted to tell her story this way and didn't feel forced to tell it this way in order to get a publishing deal.
I've known some of the old Hollywood guard who regretted that decision. But they knew it was the only way to get the book deal with a major publisher. "More between the sheets," to quote one of them.
I guess "interesting" is the eye of the beholder.
I wish her great success with the book. I love Shirley. Always have. And if this is the way she wants to tell her story, then I'm even more happy for her.
I also assume (almost without question) that she got the blessings from her sons to include their private lives. Nothing like losing a close relative over something like this. I'm sure that won't be the case here. They're a very close, supportive family.
At the end of the day, it is her life and her decision to do and write whatever the hell she wants to write about regardless of whether I or anyone else agrees with it or not.
I also am entitled to voice my opinion and was certainly surprised but I am not in any way, shape or form condemning her for it.
I'm sure just by that leak alone there will be many eager to purchase it to find out more.
Carlos, I'm sorry your friends were concerned, but I'm in the camp that thinks nothing you leaked was particularly shocking.
I didn't leak anything. I just linked my original post to the article that stated that the information was leaked before the release of the book.
Another source I've linked, the New York Daily News website also states the contents of the book was leaked:
In her new tell-all, “Shirley Jones: A Memoir,” leaked to Confidenti@l a month ahead of its scheduled release, the Partridge Family matriarch says she was very in tune with the sex, drugs and rock ’n’ roll lifestyle of her day. Sometimes she’d even flee the show’s set for a quickie with playboy hubby Jack Cassidy
It's no big deal. I'm over it. Life's too short to get all bent out of shape over something like this and get treated as if I committed a crime against humanity. Utter nonsense. I move on. Over and out.

Leak? C'mon, folks. This is an attempt to get coverage. Same thing with Robert Wagner's "leak" about his affair with Stanwyck, and that ghoulish one with Mackenzie Phillips. These books don't sell like they used to, so a "leak" has to goose interest. Nothing wrong with it. Just I don't believe these things just aren't orchestrated.
So conveniently timed with her appearance on Hot in Cleveland!
I like Shirley and I've no doubt she has an abundance of interesting tales to tell. I guess if you haven't read or heard the sordid stories of Florence Henderson and Barry Williams, then this sort of memoir may seem shocking.

Off topic re the book, but about 10 years ago hubby and I went on a Royal Caribbean cruise (treat from his company; we do not have the $ for this). Shirley Jones did the main entertainment show on the cruise, so was on the ship for the week. One evening we ran into her just sitting by herself at one of the bars. She was very stunning in person, so TINY with perfect hair, nails, makeup, the works, yet looking perfectly natural. She was extremely approachable and down to earth, said it was her first time doing cruise entertainment, and talked with us and the couples with us for quite a while. Nothing pretentious about her whatsoever.
Ms. Jones was a guest when I owned a boutique hotel back in the late 80's. She was lovely. Mr. Ingels (who made the arrangements via a contract) not so much.
